Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  I scrolled down through my pinterest board and found this ABC's picture.  It is still September (barely!) and so I decided to share this one, you know, thinking back to school and all.  Really, it is just words to live by.  I think it would make a really cool theme for a mini book!  I will put it on my someday crafty to do list!  Enjoy!

Next Wednesday, I am teaching again, a private class this time, so you might not see me early in the week, but I do have a couple of cards and a project to show you, so look for me around Thursday.  Have a great weekend.

Happy Stamping!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another share between Debbie and I.  Let's get right to it.  I will show you my card first, then Debbie's and then the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
Today's card is a keeper, if for nothing else, than because this sketch is horizontal and the main image is an oval.  These two things seem to be hard to find when I am searching for a sketch that will work for certain images.  I love how both cards came out.  Sorry about the coloring on Debbie's, I had a hard time scanning hers, as her ink was very pastel.  I like mine, but wasn't sure if the ribbon worked or the stamped sentiment, but both of these happened at the very end, and so I decided not to tear it apart to change it.  What do you think?  Do you like them and the sketch?

I am off very early this morning to meet Donna to go to Ovilla to walk in a parade with the Blue Star Mothers group.  And then this afternoon, I am teaching my card class at The Crafty Scrapper.

See you tomorrow for Sunday words of wisdom!

Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  I found that I have 240 pins on my "Words" board on Pinterest.  I decided every week, I will just look thru some of the pins, and the first one that "speaks to me" is the pick of the day.  Love this one ... hope you do too!  Enjoy!

See you next week!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  It is another share and another week of choice between square and circle.  This time you get one of each.  Let's get to it.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.
Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketches
They both came out nice I think.  And this sketch was pretty easy to work with.  My theme would probably be better suited in the middle of the summer, but then again, it is still summer around here!  I have a bunch of sentiments about sunshine, enough that I should do a mini book.  Seems like a great idea, but when?  Someday ...?  Anyway, do you like the cards this week?

Next week is my teaching week at The Crafty Scrapper so I will be busy with that.  But, I will definitely be back next Saturday with another share.  And who knows, maybe before that, if I get what I want accomplished today.  I will be back tomorrow for another words of wisdom post.  Have a great weekend!

Happy Stamping!

More Card Pouches and Instructions!

Hello!  I got a few nice comments about the cards and card pouch that I showed you yesterday.  I am back today to show you my next couple of sets.  Remember the two cards that I showed you last week, the "praying for you cards"?   The ones I had made for two customers but I didn't have their addresses ... well, I decided (can we say, what was I thinking ... mistake!) that the butterfly card was so pretty, it would make a great card set, so I tore the front panel off the original card and made 3 more to match.  And I say that decision was a mistake because yesterday I got an email from the customer with her address!  I fessed up, told the truth of what I had done, and made her a very similar card and it is on the way to her.  I am telling you this mainly because when you see the cards in this post, you are going to think I have seen that before.  And you have.  I also need to tell you about how I ended up with more card pouches.  You see, I really thought the card pouches were a little bit of trouble since I had to make the pockets and all, plus, I had to have a 12 x 12 inch cardstock for them to work, so I went back to Pinterest to find another idea.  And I found this idea ...

This was more simple and the whole box is made from one piece of 8 1/2 x 11, which I have more of.  But, when I took it up to the church to show the ladies, they did not think I could get as much for the set of 4 cards in this box as I can in the pouch.  And I see no reason to get less money when all I have to do is make a pouch!  So pouch it is ...

And here is the set of 4 cards.  Two are exactly like the one from last week's post and two are the same but different papers and they have the sentiment "God Bless You"....

The only problem I found with the pouch with this set over the pouch from yesterday's post, is that I was able to add a small strip of pattern paper on the inside cardstock panels and that is because I was using a paper pad that was longer.  This paper pad is only 6" and the peach panels are 6 1/2".  I decided leaving them plain was best. You can see it here ...

When I did the cross cards yesterday, I had enough papers to do two sets of 4.  And so, I decided I could do another set out of the same paper pad, if I just change the color scheme a little and so here is pouch #2 ...

Here is the set of cards.  This time I used four different sentiments ... Birthday Wishes, Thanks so Much, Hi There, and Thinking of You.  My thinking is that one person could buy both sets.  Enjoy ...

I have one more picture and then I will get to the recipe and some instructions.  When I was putting the above cards back in the pockets, this happened ...

That might make the inside look better!  Cool!

Recipe:
Paper - We R Memory Keepers Simply Spring 6 x 6 pad, Cardstock White, Yellow, Green, Peach
Stamps - Hero Arts Butterfly stamp and die cut set, all sentiments from Verve
Ink - Memento Black, Copics
Tools - Spellbinders Lacey Circles, Stampin' Up Word Punch for Pouch
Other - Rhinestones by Queen & Co., Ribbon

Here is what I saw on Pinterest.  You have to scroll down to see hers.  She gives a link for instructions on Splitcoast Stampers and it is here.  But, this one is smaller and only will fit small square cards.  But, I was reading in the comments that someone adjusted the measurements to make A-2 size cards work!  I went with those measurements, but found that I had to do further adjusting for my pockets, as my cards that I create are thicker than most.  So, this will give you a couple of choices depending on what size cards you are making.  For mine ... here are the instructions ...

1.  Cardstock is cut to 7" x 12".  You score on the long side in the middle at 5 1/2" and 6 1/2" creating a 1" space.  Round all 4 corners.  Punch the Stampin' Up word punch thru the top of both layers to make the handle.  (I made a small mark in the middle to know where to punch and just slid the punch down about a 1/2").  Decorate the outside of your pouch.
2.  The pockets I made from cardstock - 3 3/4" x 8 1/4".  I scored 1/4" and then 1/2" on both short sides, and the same on one of the long sides.  I cut away the little squares of the two bottom corners so when I folded, it would not be bulky.  I added 1/4" score tape to the 1/4" folds and secured this to the inside of the pouch. The cardstock pieces on top of the pockets measure 6 1/2" x 2 3/4".
3.  I added ribbon and secured it on the back side above the punched hole.  That way it is always attached even if the pouch is not tied up.

I hope between the links I gave you and my written instructions, you can recreate these.  Oh, do you agree that these pouches will bring more money than the box would have?  I guess it doesn't matter now, as I am doing the pouches no matter what.  And truthfully, they seem a little easier since I have made a couple more!  I plan on making more sets of cards with their pouches before the bazaar on Oct. 25th, so I will show you those when I get them made.

I did have one other question from yesterday about the coasters.  I was asked if they came out cloudy.  Well, I haven't sprayed them yet with the Krylon.  I have a couple that didn't come out very good and was going to trash them.  Maybe I will hold on to them and spray them first to see the results.  I will keep you posted.

I know two very long posts, two days in a row.  Thanks for staying with me!  I will see you tomorrow for the sketch share!
Happy Stamping!

Church Bazaar Crafts and Pretty Cards in a Pouch!

Hello!  The Methodist women from my church are doing a bazaar at the end of October, so last week, I decided since I am teaching three different classes before then, that I should not wait until the last week to try to make cards or something for it.  The group has gotten together a few times to make several projects, but I know that I will want to add some of my creations as well.  So, last week, I went to Pinterest to find some ideas.  I came away with a whole list of things.  But, a couple of things I tried, like a luminary type candle holder and a Christmas tree made from scallop circles went straight into the trash.  Sometimes, things on Pinterest look better on Pinterest!  I also decided I should narrow the list down, as I don't have time to make them all.  One of the craft type ideas was to take tiles (from Lowe's) and mod podge napkins onto them, spray them with Krylon, add cork on the back and tye four together with a bow.  Truthfully, I wasn't all that happy with them, as they came out with a lot of wrinkles.  But, I showed them to the ladies at the last meeting and they thought the wrinkles gave them character!  So, we got together yesterday and a couple of the ladies help me make a few more.  I brought home the rest of the tiles to make a few more, and do all the finishing on them.  I will do a post later when they all get done, but for now, here is a pic of a couple of the tiles.

See the wrinkles?  These two were some of the first ones I made.  Since then, I saw a video from someone that suggested waiting until the mod podge layer under the napkin dries before adding the mod podge top layer.  I think this helps some, but it definitely doesn't totally fix the issue.  The Krylon spray to seal the coasters says to use it when it is in the 50 to 85 degree range .... well, it might be 85 at midnight, but we haven't seen 85 degree days in a while.  But, surely we will before the 25th of October!

I figure I do my best work with cards and such, instead of these craft projects.  I decided note card sets would be a good idea.  With note cards, I do not have to do anything at all on the insides, which not only makes them easier but also keeps the cost down for me.  Which is important since I am donating my materials and time. I also want the cards to be different than the type cards the ladies pay me to make for them.  So, note cards it is!  Let me show you the first set ... and a close-up of one ... enjoy!

The Close-up of One

The Set
Now, I also found on Pinterest, instructions on how to make a card pouch to put them in.  I did have to play with the measurements for the inside pockets a little, as my cards are thicker than theirs were.  Here is the pic of the pouch ... inside and out ... enjoy!
Outside of the Card Pouch!

Inside of the Card Pouch!
The pockets were kind of a pain and I thought for the next sets I would make some other kind of box to put them in (which I did and will show you tomorrow), but when I took these and the sets in the box, the ladies thought I could get more for the pouch cards, than the boxed cards, so I guess more pouch making is in my future.  After all, the whole point is to make as much $ as possible. I am also doing post it note holders, which you will see in another post.  Maybe you will get two tomorrow, we'll see!  I know I was long winded here, but I hope you enjoyed my creations so far!

Recipe:
Paper - Die Cuts with a View Linen Closet (oh... I have one comment about this paper ... this is one of those 4 x 6 stacks and is one that I never really liked all that much, light blues and browns, just not my colors ... BUT ... for this project, BEAUTIFUL!  That goes to show you, you never know when something you bought that you don't "think" you like, will as some point be perfect for a future project!), Cardstock Natural White, and this perfect Tan cardstock from American Crafts

Stamps - none (shhh ... don't tell anyone!)
Tools - Spellbinders Crosses One and Two, Timeless Rectangles, Stampin' Up Word Punch (for pouch handles)
Other - Ribbon by Midori

See you tomorrow!
Happy Stamping!

P.S.  If anyone needs the measurements for the pouch, just email me at

Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  I probably have more sentiment stamps that all the other ones put together.  Sad but true.  When I started doing Pinterest, early last year, I created a board called "Words"!  No surprise, as I love quotes, words of inspiration, funny lines, etc.  So, there they sit and I thought it would be fun to share some of the quotes here, so I am thinking that since I rarely do a post on Sundays, that would be the perfect day!  The one I am picking today is perfect for a Sunday and it is handmade.  Here is the link to this ladies blog.  She is talented.  I can't draw or doodle, that is why I rubber stamp!  Enjoy today's quote ...

I am working on some craft projects for the church bazaar, so I will have some posts next week about that.  See you then.

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another share between Debbie and I.  As you will see, I changed the sketch slightly to make my idea work.  Debbie's card follows the sketch more closely.  I think they both work.  Let me show you.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
Do you see what I mean?  In the sketch, the squares are really on top of the panel and are evenly spaced vertically.  That is the way I would have thought I would have seen the sketch.  But, instead I saw the squares as little windows and I was going to stamp just the dog face looking different directions in the top and lower window, but his head was too big!  LOL!  I had already picked out the dog bone paper and the cardstock colors, so instead of redoing it all, I came up with the idea above.  Love it!  And, it still works for the sketch, as it still has "the bones" of the sketch.  Debbie went more traditional and I love hers too.  The vellum layer for the butterflies just makes it!

I am thinking of starting a weekly Sunday post sharing one of my favorites from my Pinterest board "Words"!  So see you tomorrow!

Happy Stamping!

Praying For You!

Hello!  I am back with my second post today!  And in this post, you get two cards ... woo hoo!  I made both of these for a couple of ladies that I thought were coming to my class.  You see, they had a very sick friend and didn't know if they could come or not.  Unfortunately, their friend passed away after a fight with cancer.  Now, I have these cards made for them and of course, I know their names but I don't have their addresses.  I don't think even the store has them.  So, if you are reading this Yvonne and Corliss, get your addresses to me, as these cards are for you!  In the mean time, I am sharing them here.  Enjoy!

I love how they both came out.  I especially love the first one.  This week I am working on some craft projects for the church bazaar.  I will show you the projects next week.  But, one of the ideas is to make a set of notecards and I think this top card would be perfect.  Pretty, aren't they?

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello! I am back today with another sketch share between Debbie and I. I think both Debbie and I really liked this sketch, so let's get to it and you can be the judge.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
They both are pretty darn cute, right?  I have to tell you a little bit about my card.  Remember all the patriotic cards that Donna and I made a while back?  The way we made those cards is we would pick the stamps together, then I would come up with the sketch and pick the papers and make the first card.  She would do all the coloring and put all the layers together. I would cut the layers to make four and we would complete those before moving on to the next card design.  Well, we decided that worked out so well, that we would get together and do that again, but this time we would make birthday cards.  And since, I knew that I needed to make my weekly card for Debbie, I picked this sketch, and the papers and we were on our way. Yes, I am saying that I did not do the coloring on my card today. We must give that credit to Donna.  Didn't she do great?  But, it was my idea to add the paper piecing on her little skunk belly!  We made one other design on Thursday, so I will show you that one next week!

Have a great weekend!

September Class Share!

Hello!  Last week was my teaching week.  After each of those weeks, I am on to thinking of what class I am going to do next.  But, usually, I don't get to actually making the samples until at least another week has passed.  This time I got right to it.  And, there is a reason!  I am teaching a private class during the first week of October.  I am using some of the same papers for both classes, so I wanted to get The Crafty Scrapper's class samples done so I could make sure there was enough of what I need.  Yea, my paper is put back and I am ready to go!  And I am ready to show you the cards they will be making ... enjoy!

First up, is another variation of the step ladder card.  This one has the steps in the middle section.  I love how this one came out ... so cute!
