Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with the Saturday sketch share between Debbie and I.  Let's get right to it.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch

What do you think about this sketch?  Debbie said she liked it.  And I do too.  However, my card was a pain because I was trying to make sure a certain part showed on the background paper.  If you look closely there is a sentiment about "tea" and I thought it would go with my teacups!  That is also why I went with the vellum circle so that you could still see the paper though it!   The teacups are new to me and the set came with a matching die ...love!  I got it at the scrapbook store in Tyler.  It is made by Taylored Expressions.  Now, I don't drink tea, but it doesn't mean I can't like teacup stamps!  LOL!  I love the bird on Debbie's card and of course, I love her paper piecing!  Do you like them?

I am off to teach today.  I have 9 in class!  Wow, should be fun!
I will see you tomorrow for the Sunday words of wisdom.

Happy Stamping!

Red, White and Blue!

Hello!  The card for you today is one that I made last week to take to the Blue Star Mother's meeting.  We were packing boxes to send to the troops and we always like to put an handmade card in each box that we all sign.  Donna and I normally get together to make a card, but both her husband and her mom had surgeries, so it just never worked out.  The card I did was quite simple but it worked.  I thought today would be the perfect time to share a patriotic card since today is Memorial Day.  Enjoy!

Flag stamps ... most of them are awful because most of them are solid like this one and so when you stamp it in say, red, then the stars are red or blue, and then the stripes are blue.  This one is a clear set from Sweet Stamps.  And they actually thought ahead.  They made it where you could cut the star portion off and make it an individual stamp so stripes are red and stars are blue!  The red, white & blue sentiment is from the same set, but I decided it would be  great addition to the thank you sentiment from my stash!  The star paper is old, also from my stash.  I think it is by Echo Park.  I only had one, not quite full 12 x 12 of it.  I had enough to make 14 cards, which we could have used more, but it is what it is.  You see, all the patriotic papers and stuff was at Donna's house and so I had to work with only what I have at my house.  The other troop boxes got a signed letter.  Better than nothing.

Tina Tip:  On brand new clear solid stamp images, go over them with an eraser.  This help to lessen the bubbling up of the ink pads on the clear stamp.

I am back to class prepping!  See you in a few days!
Happy Memorial Day and remember support our troops!

Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  I know this is a long weekend for some and maybe a time to have fun with family and friends, but it is also about something else, something very important.  It is a day to remember those that have given their lives so we can be free to have those days with family and friends.  Here are a couple of things I found on pinterest to remind us what this day is truly all about ...enjoy!

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another share between Debbie and I.  This is one of those weeks that we had a choice of the same sketch in either a circle or square.  I went square and Debbie went circle, so let's get to it!  I will show you my card, Debbie's card and the sketch choices we had this week.  Enjoy!

My Card
Debbie's Card
The Sketches

I think most people looking at this sketch, would see a sentiment in the small circle (and like Debbie did), but I decided I wanted to put an image in it instead.  I found this little camera and thought didn't I buy a sheet of scrapbook paper pretty recently that had cameras on it?  Yes, I did ... perfect!  I have to say though, I don't think this is my favorite sketch.  There is nothing wrong with it, and I do like my card, but ... well, what do you think?

I am off this morning to walk in the Memorial Day parade with the Blue Star Mothers group that I am an associated member with.  (my Godson is in the Marines).  I will be back tomorrow for words of wisdom with some nice Veteran quotes.  And Monday, I have a patriotic card to show you that recently got added to the troop boxes.

Summer Bliss!

Hello!  Today I have a copy of the post that I wrote that was on The Crafty Scrapper's blog yesterday.  In it are two cards that I made that you have not seen.  I am not allowed to add the full card recipes on their blog but I can on mine.  So, you will find those at the bottom.  Enjoy ...

Hello, Tina here with two more card creations using the bright and colorful line by Echo Park called Summer Bliss.

When picking out papers, I love to try to match up the papers with my theme of the card.  My cards today are perfect examples of that.

Do you see that the paper I picked for the first one has ice cream cones and other treats to match with the cone I made out of a cardstock triangle and a scallop oval?  From there I added some other fun elements including a pre-printed label about summer, a chipboard bow, and ribbon.  By the way, the ribbon started out white but I changed the color by swiping Distress Ink on it!  And if you look closely, you might see all the glitter on the ice cream scoop I added with the Wink of Stella pen!

You might remember, I always finish the inside.  A stamped sentiment from My Favorite Things was a perfect match!

On the backside of the yellow dot paper, was an all over print with birds.  I decided it would be a perfect match to use with the Darcie's stamp set of a little girl holding a bird.  I added the sentiment "you lift me up" from the same set.  It could be a wonderful encouragement card for any occasion.

You can find all of the products I used at our favorite store, The Crafty Scrapper!

Recipe Card #1 -

Paper - Echo Park Summer Bliss line, Cardstock White, Yellow
Stamps - Inside sentiment from My Favorite Things Pucker Up PI
Ink - Memento Black, Distress Ink (changed ribbon color from white to green)
Tools - Basic Grey Plaid embossing folder, Spellbinders Big Scallop Oval
Other - Echo Park Embellishments, Prima Flower, Yellow Pearls, Ribbon, Wink of Stella Clear Gloss Pen

Recipe Card #2-
Paper - Echo Park Summer Bliss line, Cardstock White, Aqua, Pink
Stamps - Darcie's Never Walk Alone set
Ink - Memento Black, Copics
Tools - Spellbinders Classic Circles
Other - Rhinestones, Ribbon from Creative Impressions

Happy Stamping!

Saturday Sketch Share!

Hello!  Guess what?  I forgot it was Saturday and so it is almost 5 o clock and I am just now doing my Saturday post.  Better late than never!  So let's get right to it.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card and the sketch we both used.  I should warn you ahead of time, it is a sketch that I have used quite a bit already, so it won't look new to you.  Nevertheless ...enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
A couple of notations ... I love how Debbie added her sentiment on a different circle than I did.  That shows a different look.  Thanks Debbie this week for making a bright colored birthday card!  I am sure it was with me, in mind!  The sentiment I used is Stampin' Up which is no big deal and I am only mentioning it because the date on the stamp is 2000!  Wow!  That is what happens when you have been stamping for 20 years!

See you tomorrow!  I hope I can remember to do it on time!  Hee, Hee!

Thank You Banner Card!

Hello!  Yesterday, I mentioned that I found a couple of items that I haven't shared with you here.  In early April, when I showed you my April class share, I only showed you a small snip of the fourth card and that is because I wanted it to be a surprise to all the class takers.  As I mentioned before, April marked my third year of teaching every month at The Crafty Scrapper and I had decided instead of making a thank you card to give them, they would enjoy it more if they had a fourth kit as part of their class.  But, I never showed you here what the card look like ... here it is ... enjoy!

And, here it is folded flat for mailing ...

I think everyone liked the card.  Carolyn, the owner even had a thank you gift for me!  That made me feel so good.  The other item that I had not shown you is a little tag that was added to a baby gift for my godson's son.  Here that is ... enjoy!

Didn't it come out cute?  I think it did!

Tomorrow is my birthday (54 years) and I will be off celebrating it with my BFF.  Note, it is my husband's birthday too, but we are not getting along (again).  I know I haven't talked about this on here before, and I probably shouldn't be here now.  But, I do believe in the power of prayer, so if you are reading this, will you just say a prayer for me or us?  Thanks.  I will see you on Saturday for the sketch share!

Sunshine Your Way Soon!

Hello!  It seems I have a couple of cards that I haven't shared with you yet.  Today's card is one of the get well ones I made for my friend at church.  It's very bright, perfect for get well!  Let me show you ...enjoy!

Looking at the sentiment, I thought it would be great paired with the starburst technique.  I found a 6 x 6 pad in my stash that had all the yellow patterns I would need to make it work!  Love how it came out and I hope you do too!

Recipe:
Paper - Fancy Pants Designs Park Bench 6 x 6, Cardstock White, Yellow
Stamps - My Favorite Things
Ink - Versafine Black
Tools - Spellbinders Classic Circle,  _____Circle (good grief ... I can't remember what this decorative circle is called)
Other - Rhinestones, Ribbon

I will try to be back tomorrow with a couple more cards that got made a while back but that I haven't shown you here.

Happy Stamping!

Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  I went looking for some "mom" quotes since today is Mother's Day.  And of course, it was hard to pick just one ... so here are three that really "spoke" to me!  Enjoy!

That last one is great because of the last line ... not time, not space ... not even death.  So true.  My mom is in heaven but I am thinking of her today and remembering!

Happy Mother's Day to you!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another sketch share between Debbie and I.  I think we both liked this sketch, so let's get to it so you can decide for yourself!  I will show you my card, Debbie's card and then the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
I am the happiest with card creations when my papers go perfectly with the stamped image and this was the case this time!  At soon as I saw these at the store, I thought they would match perfectly with one of the Pure Innocence girls that I had not inked up yet ... yes, sad but true!  But, now I have and I love it!  Debbie's card is a birthday card this week and I know why ... because next Friday is my birthday ... yea ... I love my birthday!  Thanks Debbie for the "big wish"!  What do you think of this week's sketch?

See you tomorrow.

May Class Share!

Hello!  I have been busy working on my next class samples.  I am always getting requests for masculine cards but usually I just add one or two sometime in the year.  I decided I was going to do one whole class that would be just for men.  Of course, it was a challenge for me to figure out what kind of cards to do, and then to match the ideas with the products that the store sells.  I had brought home a few papers from the store that I thought looked like manly colors.  And I had a couple of stamp sets that I thought would work.  I am happy with the results.  Here are the three cards for my May class.  The class details follows.  Enjoy!

First, is a shirt card.  I saw lots of tutorials on the "origami" kind, but after doing it one time, I decided no way and went looking for a simpler version ... this is the one and I love it ...

 And the inside ...

Next, is a pocket card with an opening for a fish scene ... it looks realistic thanks to some styling gel!  Yes, for real!

This next photo shows the card pulled out of it's pocket.  This is a flat card, but will have plenty of room for your message either below the sentiment or on the backside of the pulled out card.

And the last card uses the square cage die from Inky Antics and some of their cute stamps too!

When the brad is pulled, the cage is pulled up to reveal the message ... "You're the greatest, and I'm not lion!"  LOL!

And then the inside also uses the square cage die to create a pop-up sentiment ...

Here are the class details in case  you are interested in coming or would like a kit.

Just for Men- Wed. May 28th 11:00 a.m. and Sat. May 31st 2:30 p.m. $25
In this class you will make three creative and unique cards that will be perfect for men for occasions like Father's Day, Birthday, etc.!  First, is a shirt card.  So fun!   Next is a pocket card complete with an opening to reveal a realistic fish scene (thanks to some styling gel!).  The third card continues our die a month by using the square cage die from Inky Antics to create both the front and the inside pop up for our lion card.  Please bring adhesive to include 1/8" scor-tape, regular scotch tape in 1/2", pop-up dots, detailed scissors, and your preferred coloring medium.  All other supplies provided.  (Copics used (for those who have asked to know ahead of time): card 2: B000, B12, Y35, E31, E35, Y17, E08, B97, card 3: E21, E25, Y21, W5)

See you tomorrow for the Saturday sketch share!

Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  Sorry I am so late in posting today.  My internet was acting a little funny this morning.  I decided that since this is National Scrapbook weekend, I should give you a favorite quote on creativity.  How about this one ... enjoy!

Yesterday, I was at my United Methodist Women's meeting and her devotional was on the Spirit of Creativity.  I want to share it with you here ...

So, as I said yesterday ... go and create ... something!

Happy Stamping!

Saturday Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with the sketch share between Debbie and I.  I think we both really liked this one and both thought it was a perfect one when you have a sentiment you wanted to focus on.  Let's get right to it.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
I bet you were thinking that my card would have been a good get well card like some of the ones I showed you this week.  Well, that is because I made a second card just like it to sell to my friend at church ... "killed two birds with one stone"!  My card really shows off my love of a nice 6 x 6 pad and the way all the papers coordinate together.  This one is from Authentique.  I love how Debbie used the arrow element to match her arrow paper.  So fun!  One more thing ... I love that the sketch is a horizontal one.  Do you like it?

See you tomorrow for my words of wisdom post.
Happy Stamping!
Tina

P.S.  Today is National Scrapbook Day which is not big of a deal to me since I am mostly a cardmaker, but it is nice that there is a day to acknowledge the crafting world.  It seems that the store has hosted a retreat in honor of the day.  Check out this post on The Crafty Scrappers blog.  I have to admit it does look like fun.  I personally have never done a retreat ... but it is on my "to do" list "someday"!  Have a great weekend and Happy National Scrapbook Day!  Go create something!

Under the Weather!

Hello!  I have another get well card I made to show you.  This time I used a sketch that you saw a couple of weeks ago for the Saturday sketch share.  This is why I really like doing the sketches every week, because it gives me new inspiration to make not just the one card for the week, but more cards.  So here it is ... enjoy!

It is a little more cutesy that the elegant one from a couple of days ago, but I think different kinds of cards are good for different types of people.  At least that is my thoughts.  The sketch was perfect for this little image of the bird with the umbrella.  And of course, you know how I love to match my papers with the images.  Rain on the paper ... yes, nice!

Recipe:
Paper - My Minds Eye Quite Contrary 6 x 6, Cardstock White, Aqua
Stamps - Bird by Inky Antics Sick Turtle set, Sentiment by Stamps of Life Umbrella 4 You set (the Inky Antics set was supposed to have this same sentiment in the set, but it was missing.)
Ink - Memento Black, Copics
Tools - Verve Loopy Blooms Die
Other - Baubles

Happy Stamping!
