Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with the share between Debbie and I using the same sketch.  As you know, we  use the Mojo Monday sketches and have worked our way from 2010 thru 2013 and have just begun on their 2014 sketches.  Remember how every four weeks, there would be sketches with a choice of square or circle?  Well, I guess in 2014 they made a change.  Now, they are doing tall & skinny!  They give some choices for measurements, either 3 1/2" x 5" which will fit into a regular A2 size envy or a little taller with 3 1/2" x 6".  I started out this week with the shorter one, Debbie did the taller.  After seeing the size Debbie did, I like the size, but I will let you be the judge.  First, my card, then Debbie's and then the sketch.  Enjoy!

The Sketch
Well, as it turns out, from the photos on the computer, it is kinda hard to tell that mine is shorter, but it is.  I like both cards and I like the sketch.  It is fun to have something new to work with!  And speaking of new ... yes new Gnome stamps and dies for me.  I want to make more cards with this set, too cute, but I gotta get this next class done.  I have been pre prepping and I am still worried that I won't be ready.  Yea, what was I thinking?  Oh, well, always fun, no matter what!

Happy Birthday Explosion Box!

Hello!  On Saturday, I went to The Crafty Scrapper to participate in their make it take event for the store's 10 year birthday bash.  So, last week, in between prepping for my make in take, I made an explosion box for Carolyn.  She loved it.  I think you will too ... enjoy!

The first photo is the box closed.  In the ones I did in class, I added a cute PI girl on the top, but I know that Carolyn's taste is not "cutesy", so I decided to just do a paper bow.  I had to go back through my own blog posts to find the tutorial.  In case you need it again, you can check it out here.

And then when the lid comes off ....the wow ....

Here is a close-up of the little cake I made ...

The bottom layer is simply a strip of paper in a circle, so if you push too hard it could collapse.  If I was to do this for a class, I think I would have to add something in the middle to make it sturdier.  The top layer, of course, has the tea light that lights up.  The 10 was made from the numbers from a Thickers pack.  I just put two of them together to make it thicker.  I actually used some stickles on the center of the tiny flowers.  I originally thought of tiny rhinestones, but decided the stickles was quicker and easier.

I didn't go  with as many pockets as I did on the ones I made for the class.  They had 20 pockets.  Hers had 8.  The four on the outer sides, I added art quotes from an unmounted set of that was in my stash.  (unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of these).  The inside pockets I typed my message on the computer, using one of the cool fonts I downloaded.  I even added numbers so she would read them in order.  Here is a photo of those inserts ...

I think they are a little hard to read, so here is what they say ...

The Crafty Scrapper Celebrates
10 Wonderful Years
Sharing Memories, Friendships, Creativity, Ideas, Art & Fun
Congratulation Carolyn   I am truly blessed to be a part of such an amazing store. I look forward to the next 10!

She had some tears when she read it.  That just made my day

I have one more photo for you.  This is the table with the cake and food for the day.  It looked so pretty, I just had to share.

That tall looking cake behind the big sheet cake is actually made from paper and was made by one of the design team members, Amy Lanford.  If this link works to my facebook page here, you can get a closer view.  It is awesome!  It was such a fun day!

My time was paid with a gift card, which I didn't leave the store with much of it, as they got in some new My Favorite Things that I had to have!  Ha, Ha!  Maybe I will get some new cards made with them this week, in between pre prepping for my next class.  And it seems I am back tracking and pre prepping some of the pieces that I thought were now done, because the class is full and there are still a few that want to take it.  She is ordering me more paper pads!  Crazy!  But, I will not turn it down!

See you soon!
Happy Stamping!

Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  As you know, I haven't been doing many Sunday words of wisdom posts.  No reason, just don't always think about it.  But this morning, looking around on Pinterest, there was one that I thought, yes, a good one to share.  So here is my pick of the day ... enjoy!

I will see you tomorrow, as I will be back to share the explosion box I made for Carolyn, the owner of The Crafty Scrapper.  She loved it!  Yea!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back this morning with this week's sketch share between Debbie and I. You haven't seen me here but I have been in my room most days either prepping for today's make in take at The Crafty Scrapper's 10 year birthday bash that is today or I am still doing early prepping for my class at the end of the month.  The day I made Debbie's card and got ready to send it, our electricity was out, so I took a photo of it outside so hopefully it looks okay.  Let's see it and get to it ... I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

The Sketch
I didn't know what I wanted to do this week, so I looked thru some of my 12 x 12 paper stash and found this paper with the hees on one side and the honeycomb on the backside and decided to pair it with this cute bear I have used before.  That saying on Debbie's card ... I love it!  You're
sping er-ific!  The sketch this week is still kinda boring, not as bad as last week though.  What do you think?

I am off to Waxahachie! If you are local, come on out!  Not only are there 10 make in takes for only $25 but they are also doing scratch offs with up to 40% savings.  (I got one in this amount a couple of years ago ... wish I would get one this year!)  And I think they are also giving away a Vagabond Die Cutting machine, now that would be awesome.  And lastly, you could see ME!

Have a great day!
Happy Stamping!

PS.  I also made an explosion box yesterday for Carolyn, the store owner since she is celebrating 10 years in business.  I will have that to show you early in the week!

The Sketch
I can't say I am that crazy about my card.  The idea was better in my head.  I liked Debbie's card better, but she mentioned she wasn't really sure about hers.  I think we decided it has more to do with the sketch than the subject matter.  As, it is a rather boring sketch.  What do you think?

Simple sketch, but oh, so cute!  I love how the whole card came out!  Some bunnies, these bunnies are not just for Easter!

April Class Share!

Hello!  I actually finished my class samples last Wed., but I had a lot of other stuff on my plate like cleaning house for family coming for the Easter weekend and getting ready for the ladies tea at my church last Saturday.  Now, that those events are behind me, I can share with you my next class idea and cards.  When I had my store, one of my teachers taught a class called "one sheet wonder" where she made a bunch of cards with one sheet of paper.  Since then, I have seen the same concept done with a 6 x 6 pad and I so wanted to take on that challenge.  I wasn't sure how I could do it for a class because it would not be my usual three fancy cards.  When I was at the store, I picked up a brand new 6 x 6 pad from Echo Park called Birthday Wishes, thinking that this pad would be perfect, as everyone needs birthday cards.  This particular pad has 24 sheets of double sided papers which means 12 different patterns times two.  I decided to make cards in my style, with sketches, for 12 of the sheets.  I ended up with 14 cards!  And these are the ones that the ladies will be putting together in class.  Also, included in their kits, I will be giving color copies of the cut pieces (with measurements) for the remaining 12 sheets so that they can make 14 more cards at home!  Any die cuts or stamped sentiments will also be included for the 14 they will do at home. All they will need to provide is their own cardstock.  There will be a lot of time involved from me to cut all the pieces for 14 cards from the 6 x 6 pads and cardstock for 14 complete cards (when I say complete, I mean insides too).  On that note, I really didn't feel that I could do it for the usual $28 class fee, so this one time only, I am upping this class to $34 which is the price of the pad.  I so hope that it will not change the number of sign ups.  I really feel like that they are still getting a lot for their money.  The first photo I have for you is the group photo, which will be the one seen on their website too.  But, for you here, I also have all 14 cards to show you!  Enjoy!

I love how all the cards came out.  Here are the class details ....

 From one 6 x 6 To a Birthday Bonanza!
 Wed. April 29th 11:00 a.m. and Sat.  May 2nd 2:30 p.m.  $34

Have you ever wondered how many cards you could make with just one 6 x 6 pad?  And have you ever wished you had a bunch of birthday cards ready when you need them?  Included in your class fee, is one 6 x 6 pad from Echo Park called Birthday Wishes.  Following my samples with simple and fun sketches, you will put together 14 complete birthday cards in class.  And, I will give you color copies showing how each page will be cut apart, with the measurements.  Using these as your guide, you will be able to add your own cardstock and make 14 more cards at home!  One pad, 28 birthday cards!  This class is limited to 20 people.  All you need to bring is adhesive, whatever kind you prefer, and pop-ups.  Scissors might also be helpful.  All other supplies provided.

Remember, if you are local, you have to call the store and sign up - 972-923-3151 to come or to get a kit.  If you are not local, I can send you the kit, so you can contact me.

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with the share between Debbie and I.  Let's get right to it, as today is my ladies tea at church, so I have to leave soon.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

The Sketch
I don't think either one of us followed the sketch exactly, as both of our image panels are way bigger but they are both our interpretations and that is what counts!  I got this new PI girl and so I thought she should be inked up.  Early this week, when my plans were to make Easter cards, I spent time instead working on my next class.  So, very few cards did I make and send for Easter.  Oh well.  As far as my next class?  I can't wait to show you, but it will have to wait until Monday, as family is here this weekend.

Happy Easter!

Tulip Corner Bookmark

Hello!  I know I said I would be back on Monday and it is now late on Thursday!  I do have an excuse!  Like I can get away with that!  Ha, Ha.  Anyway, I asked if it was alright to show you what my make in take will be for the upcoming event at the store.  The answer was yes, but wait until their newsletter goes out with all the make in take photos.  That happened this morning, so here I am.  Last year for the birthday bash, I did a make in take that had too many steps and at the end of the day, I felt so exhausted.  Hopefully, this one will be easier on me and them!  This corner bookmark is one that I taught a couple of years ago .... here it is ... enjoy!

Ahead of time I will cut a 4 inch cardstock square.  I will also make two diagonal score lines so that the top folds into a triangle.  One white square is cut to 2 3/4" and then cut on the diagonal.  This is the white you see behind the tulip.  Two strips of DP will be cut as shown above one on the front, and one on the back.  Here is a photo of the backside ...

It has a real finished look to it.  I will also be pre stamping and die cutting the tulip.  They will do the border punching, color in the tulip and put it all together.  Should be easy peasy!

Here are the details about the event ... it is a really fun day and a chance to do a bunch of different kind of make in takes.  So, if you are local, mark your calendars!

I think they are having at least 10 make it take its for $25.  Good deal, huh?

Happy Stamping!
