Saturday Sketch Share!

Hello!  This week has been a busy one.  It is my teaching week and even though I had done some of the class prepping  about a week ago, there was still a lot to do.  After Wed.'s class, I had to rewrite instructions and fix a couple of the kits.  I think I am ready today to teach the second class.  I had hoped to take time to do a couple of posts for you, but didn't get to it.  But, I do have today's cards between Debbie and I.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
I like this sketch.  I wish I would have made my base a dark color instead of the white, as I think my light coloring of the octopus made the whole card seem bland.  I almost always do a white base because usually it brightens the cards up, but not this time.  I love the sentiment on mine ... You octopi my thoughts!  Hee, Hee!  Cute cards ... both of them!  You think?

See you soon!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back with another share between Debbie and I.  Last Saturday, you might remember, my card had a popsicle theme and Debbie's card had a nautical scene.  Both perfect for summer.  Well, this week, we switched!  I have a nautical theme and Debbie's is a popsicle theme!  Funny, huh?  I do have to note, that Debbie does her weekly cards several weeks in advance so it is purely coincidental that it happened that way with her cards!  Me, no, I make them in the same week that I need them, so did I plan my nautical theme today?  Maybe!  I'm not telling!  Hee, Hee!  Let's get to it.  The sketch is one of the tall and skinny ones and I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

Are they great, both of them?  So fun!

This next week is my teaching week, but I still have some cards done that you haven't seen.  Hopefully, I will be able to have time to do some quick posts for them sometime in the week.

Party On!

Hello!  I had been doing so good about getting a couple of posts ready every couple of days, well, until yesterday.  No worries, I have another whimsical birthday card to show you today.  Enjoy!

What a handsome fellow he is!  Hee, Hee!  That tiny balloon combined with those great big shoes just gives me a chuckle!  The Party On sentiment is stamped on the inside.  I couldn't find a good place to add it on the front. but as you know, not having some kind of sentiment on the front is a rarity for me.  Fun card.  My friend at church liked it and I hope you do too!

Recipe:
Paper - Taylored Expressions 6 x 6 birthday pack, Cardstock White, Green
Stamps - Inky Antics
Ink - Memento Black, Copics

Other - Green Rhinestones

Wet My Plants!

Hello!  I have another whimsical card for you today.  The sentiment totally makes this card a hoot!  Enjoy!

It makes me laugh right out loud!  I saw a card on Pinterest where they trimmed around the right side of the gardener woman.  I love it.  Such a great idea, since she is a pretty large stamp.  It gives some extra interest to the card, I think.  Do you like this one?

Recipe:
Paper - KI Growing Garden 6 x 6, Cardstock White, Green
Stamps - Art Impressions
Ink - Memento Black, Copics
Tools - Spellbinders Classic Circle, Scallop Circle
Other - Rhinestones

Hello!  I am still showing you the group of cards I made for a friend at church.  The ones I have shown you so far, have been pretty florals, but I also made three cards that are on the whimsical side.  I wasn't sure if she would like them, but she said she like them all and wanted them too!  Goodie!  Here is a fun one ...enjoy!

Birthday Roses!

Hello!  I am back today to show you another birthday card I made for a friend at church that buys them from me.  This time I used the Stampendous Bouquet stamps to create my card.  The way it is made is kinda cool ... enjoy!

Do you see that the Happy Birthday sentiment is actually on the inside layer and the way I cut the top part off, it allows it to show through?   Below, shows the inside ...

I did not like the white cardstock which was the back of the vase showing, so I added that brown piece.  It still looks kinda weird, but better than it was.  I like how this card came out, you?

Recipe:
Paper - Basic Grey Tea Garden 6 x 6 pad, Cardstock White, Dark Brown
Stamps - Stampendous Pop-Up Bouquet set, Inside Sentiments from There She Goes Clear Stamps
Ink - Memento Black, Copics
Tools - Stampedous Pop-Up Bouquet matching dies
Other - Pearls

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another sketch share between Debbie and I.  I also have an enabler share of I tool I recently purchased at the end.  But, first, let me show you my card, Debbie's card and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
I think we both really like this sketch.  And yes, I did too, even though it is on the simple side for how I like my cards to be. (as you know!)  I see now I should have added one more bauble on the bottom strip and on the right side I see that both strips are "v'd".  In my room, I have these sketches printed out and I think there is maybe 6 months on one sheet and so it makes the sketches really small.  Usually, there is no problem, but these couple of left out things would have enhanced my card, so I wish I would have looked on the computer before sending it off!  If I do this sketch again, I will remember!  Before I get to the specifics of my card, I do want to say that I love Debbie's card this week, the theme and the papers!

I specifically stamped this solid popsicle stamp so that I could use my new stamping tool ... enabler alert to follow ... I used the MISTI, which stands for most incredible stamping tool invented.  You probably have heard of it, or may even have one.  It is not brand new, it just took me a while to justify spending money on another stamp positioner type tool, as I rarely use the other stamp positioners I own.  This one is different!  I was slow to come around to liking clear stamps, but now I really love the ease of being able to see where your stamping, but the one thing I hate about clear stamps is when it is a solid stamp.  I just don't get the solid inking like you do with wood mounted.  And often, I don't buy stamps sets in clear that have solid stamps in them.  I have thought about buying new sets of inks to help with this issue, but really I have enough colored ink, just wished there was a another solution .... well, with the MISTI, there is!   With this stamp positioner, you can stamp over and over exactly in the same spot every time, with no realigning.  So cool.  Here I have a little visual to show what I mean.  Below both photos were stamped with the distress inks.  The top one shows the inks stamped once, and you can see why I have this issue.  The one below shows using the same inks over the top.  I think it was 3 times, not sure.

Wow, what a difference!  When I am prepping for my classes, and I have a lot of stamping to do and especially when I need exact placement of an image, I really think this is going to be so helpful.  I have seen a few you tube videos of how others have found it helpful, like when you are stamping a large background.  I don't use large backgrounds a lot, but when I do, I am sure I will be using the MISTI.  To order, you get it from the creator, at www.sweetpetunia.com  I am not associated with her, don't know her, nothing, except I like her tool.  She does not do wholesale, so you will not find it at your local stores.  If you haven't seen it, do some research and look at some of the videos and see what you think.  I have only had it a week, so as I use it, I will try to have more visuals to show how it is helpful to me.

Next week, I have more birthday cards to show you.
Have a great weekend!

Triple Floral Birthday!

Hello!  I have another birthday card for you today.  This one is really simple but ... well, it works!  Enjoy!

This one is almost like a "clean and simple" style, which I don't normally like, but who couldn't like those big pretty flowers?  The colors in person really matched up great.  It is always hard to get the colors exact when I scan on the printer.  Still pretty, don't you think?

Recipe:
Paper - Carta Bella Soak Up the Sun 6 x 6 pad, Cardstock White, Dark Pink
Stamps - Verve Stamps
Ink - Memento Black, Copics
Tools - Leaf die from Stamps of Life
Other - Rhinestones, Round stickers from Stampendous

See you tomorrow for the Saturday share.  And I will continue showing you this group of birthday cards next week!

You're Tea-riffic!

Hello!  I have quite a number of cards that I made for a friend at church who purchases them from me.  My thought is to write some posts so that you have one card a day.  The first one is a case from my friend Debbie.  She did this card for her Saturday share a couple of weeks ago.  And even though it is very similar to hers, we all know using different colors and papers, can totally change the look of a card.  Here is mine ...enjoy!

On the inside I used the sentiment that says something like I hope you birthday stacks up to be the best.  This time my friend asked specifically for some birthday cards, so I thought this one would be perfect.  Debbie had paper pieced the teacups, and you know how much I love to do that!  Love how it came out.  I hope you do too!

Recipe:
Paper - Authentique Infused Collection 6 x 6, Cardstock Olive, White
Stamps - Taylored Expressions
Ink - Memento Black
Tools - We R Memory Keepers 1/2" Corner Rounder
Other - Olive Pearls, Velvet Ribbon

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with the share between Debbie and I.  I will be showing you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch

One of my all time favorite sketches has circles, kinda like this one.  It is great for small images, like what Debbie did.  The stamp I picked was kinda big and my idea of making one of the circles into a shaker card ... well, I did it, but it made for a very small shaker!  Fun cards, for sure!

Summer in Texas ... we are having days of over 100 degree temps, now that is not fun.  Stay cool and safe!

See you soon!

Party Hat Chikie!

Hello!  Today's card is one that I cased ... from myself!  I knew it was one of my class cards, but I was quite surprised when I went looking, that it was from April of 2013.  That one was done in blues.  This time I used the Echo Park birthday paper pad in pinks.  Let me show you.  It was cute then and now!  Enjoy!

And the inside ...

Such a cute card for a granddaughter!  I do want to note that the rhinestones on the front are really a pink color, but the scanning of my card took it away.  Oh, and I love the party hat paper for the party hat, don't you?

I will see you tomorrow for the Saturday share.  I did make a few birthday cards for a lady at church, so I will try to get those on here for you to see next week.  I have a had a rough couple of days, as I have been having some neck trouble, a pinched nerve, I think.

August Class Share!

Hello!  I have been busy trying to get my August class cards done.  It is actually a lot earlier than I normally have them done, but since I had some ideas, I wanted to work on them and once I start, I want to finish them.  I absolutely love how they turned out.  I am back to my typical class of fun designs matched with fun and interesting card folds.  I also love my class title ..."Just Beachy"!  Let me show you ... enjoy!

First, a magic card.  I taught this type card probably a year or more ago.  I found an improved version that I think will be much easier to teach and understand.  From the front, you just see an uncolored image ...

And then you pull up the tab .... and the magic happens ...

Next, is a gate fold type card.  Here it is closed ...

And then you open it up, and there is whole "sea of fishes" ...

And last but not least, we are doing a lever card.  Here is the card closed showing our "babe"...

And here it is opened ...

Here are the class details if you are interested. Remember, I always do kits for those who can't come or aren't local, just call the store to sign up. 972-923-3151.

"Just Beachy"!  Wed. August 26th 11:00 a.m. and Sat. August 29th 2:30 p.n. $28
This is the last month for fun summer cards, as next month, we will start our fall and holiday card making.  This month you will create three adorable fun folded cards with a beach theme.  First, is the magic card which is a new and improved version, and for that one we are using the penguin set from MFT.  The other two uses stamps from Inky Antics.  One is a fun gate fold with a "sea of fishes"!  And lastly,  a hilarious beach lady for the lever card creation.   All three are fun to make and will "wow' the recipient.  Please bring adhesive to include scor-tape (1/4" is fine), pop-up dots, detailed scissors, and your preferred coloring medium.  All other supplies will be provided.  Copics  I used (for those that have asked to know them ahead of time): Card 1: C7, Y35, YG45, E15, G000, BG000, R14, Y08, Card 2:E33, E35, BG000, BG57/BG01?, YG95/YG03? (question marks indicate other colors might be better), BG45, Y38, B37, Card 3: BG45, R81, R85, Y21, YR07?, RV10, BG000, E00

I am back to working on some birthday cards for a lady at church, so I will have a few cards to show you next week.

See you soon!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  Look, I am on time with the share between Debbie and I!  I also finished my next class cards, so look for another post in a little while for that.  But, for now, I will be showing you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
Even though I love the gnome stamp on my card, I wasn't that crazy about the sketch, but ... when I got Debbie's card, I thought wow, I love the sketch.  So, it is interesting to me that it can depend on what is used as to how you like the "look"!  Since, as you know, I own that teacup set, I might just be "casing" her card.  I am working on some birthday cards for a lady at my church that buys them from me and that one would be perfect.  What do you think?  Do you like this week's sketch?

I will be back a little later with my August class share!
Happy Stamping!
