My Bridal Shower Card, Harry Potter Style!

Hello!  I have been trying to find time to get this card on here for over a week.  Before I show you, I have to give you a little background.  A few weeks back, I had gotten a bridal shower invite for my niece with a Harry Potter theme.  Well, honestly, I know nothing.  I have never read the books or seen the movies.  I reached out to a couple of people that are fans and have knowledge.  One gave me a bunch of online links and from one of those links, see it here, I was able to use their idea to create my card.  One of the main problems I was having from the get go, was what scrapbook paper to use, as I quickly found out that the companies that had Harry Potter paper had discontinued it and no longer was it to be found.  Etsy had some digital papers but that was going to take so much ink, and I wasn't all that crazy about them.  Fortunately, I got her wedding invite just in time to see that it had kinda of a "galaxy" theme with black and golds.  Well, I knew that the papers in that KaiserKraft line that I was given to work with from the store's design team would be perfect, so paper solved.  I downloaded images from the link I gave you earlier, and also the fonts they used to do the wording on my double z fold card.  I had been told that the images needed to be gold.  So, I went the easy way, and just outlined them with a gold pen.  It worked perfectly!   Here is the card in a couple of views ... enjoy!

The front ...

Halfway opened ....

And the inside, totally opened ...

And then on the envelope ...

A faux seal!  I was pretty pleased how it came out!  All I did was put some hot glue onto a craft sheet, pushed a silver charm into it, let it cool, removed the charm, and then inked it on both sides with gold Lumiere paint.

She opened my card and I know she liked it.  I did too.  It came out good!

I plan on working on some more Christmas cards this week, as I get them done, I will try to get them on here to show you.

See you soon!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I expected to be back before today with a card I made for my niece, but I had a house to clean and lots to do before family came on Wed., and then yesterday, I never thought about it.  But, today I got it ready, so look for it tomorrow morning, Today I have the weekly share for you.  One last thing to say before I get to it, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family.  We did, for sure.  And I guess I had a little too much fun, as I now have a touch of a cold, yuk!  Ok, now today's cards ... I will show you my card, Debbie's card and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
Debbie's card made me smile, too cute.  I decided to make the transition from fall cards to Christmas cards.  I made two of the today to add another to my stash of cards to send.  I think this sketch is another keeper.  As I have said before, good horizontal sketches are hard to come up with.  What do you think?

See you tomorrow!

December Class Share!

Hello!  I have a lot to do before Thursday for the holiday but I finished my next class samples this morning, so I am taking this time to write this so that all who are interested, can see!  For my  December class, as in previous years, it is all about gifting with tags, gift card holders, etc.  Let me show you ...enjoy!

Tag #1  Penguin & Snowflake Front

Tag #1 Penguin and Snowflake Back

Tag #2  Ornament Swirls Red & Gold Shimmer

Tag #3 Pretty Poinsettia

Tag #4 Dashing By

Wine Tag: Christmas Tree 3D Cheer

Treat and Gift Card Holder Box Front

Treat and Gift Card Holder Box Back

What do you think? I love how they came out, even though I had quite a time deciding on what to do and how to do it, especially the box, as I didn't like the way the ends closed up.  They had it where you would just seal the end after you added the treats, but that meant that the recipient would be tearing up the box to get out the treats, not good.  By the way, this treat box can hold a number of things including 3 small tea lights.  I love how you get a treat with a gift card.  The wine tag I love too, even though I rarely give wine as gifts.  In the photograph, I hung it on a bottle of olive oil, which might be an idea for a gift.  And then of course, you could just cut the score part off and have just a tag.  And then the four tags, I love them all!  This class is just a couple of weeks away or you can always purchase a kit if you can't come or aren't local.  Just call the store and sign up (972-923-3151).  Class details are below.

Creative Gift Helpers 2015 - Wed.  Dec. 9th 11 a.m.  and Sat. Dec. 12th 2:30 p.m. $28
In this class, you will be making a combination treat and gift card holder box, four tags, and a wine bottle tag that could hang over all kinds of bottles, not just wine bottles.  Pretty papers, stamps and dies from our favorite companies help to create these perfect gift helpers!  Please bring adhesive to include scor-tape, pop up dots, detailed scissors, and your preferred coloring medium.  All other supplies provided.  Copics I used: Box: E00/R11, C7, C3, G11, R27, Tag 1: BG57, Y38, C7 or 100, Tag 4: BG11/BG10, BG57, E00/R11, E35, W7, C2.

Hopefully, I will be back in the morning to share a card I made for my niece's bridal shower.

Saturday's Sketch Share (on Sunday)!

Hello!  Early yesterday, when I got on the computer to do my weekly post, I realized I had not received Debbie's card yet, so then I thought, okay, I will just do a half of a post and show you mine.  Guess what?  I forgot to scan it before I sent it in the mail to Debbie and she had not received it by Friday.  I knew I would not be around to do it yesterday as I was gone all day to Fort Worth.  Among those reasons was to go to my niece's wedding shower of which I will be back in a day or two to share with you the card I made for her.  Fast forwarding to today ... I got hers in the mail yesterday and she got mine, so she texted me a photo of mine.  So, here you go ... enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card
The Sketch

I guess Debbie forgot to do her card "tall and skinny", no biggie!  It really doesn't change things too much.  Instead of 4 1/4" across, it is only 3 1/2" inches across, that is only like 3/4 of an inch, right?  I like the sketch except for where the strip goes across, I was worried that it would cover up my image.  I did the vellum which totally worked and with Debbie's card that is where she added the main image.  Good idea!  What do you think of this sketch?

I am still trying to finish up the card samples for my December class.  Gotta get them done because I have a house to clean and food to fix!!

See you soon!

Satrrday's Sketch Share (on Sunday!)

Hello!  Yes, I am late with my share and I got reminded by two different friends this morning!  So, here it is ... finally!  I will show you my card, Debbie's card and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
As you know, there are far less sketches that are horizontal than vertical ones. This horizontal one is a keeper.  I love how both cards came out.  I especially love the sentiment on Debbie's card ... "You're the apple of my pie"!  Now that just makes my smile!  What do you think?  Cute cards?

I will be working on my next class samples this week but I also hope to work on some holiday cards too.  My November class finished yesterday and I am so happy to have a few more cards in my stash to send!

See you soon!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another share between Debbie and I. We both are sharing fall cards today so let's get to it!  I will show you my card, Debbie's card and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
Okay, I like today's sketch.  It is a great one when your image is not real big and you want to add interest to the card.  Love how they both came out!  Don't you?

I can't believe it but I am teaching again this next week. Seems crazy quick and it is but that is because of the holidays.  Three more Christmas cards in this class! So, if you are a regular class taker of mine, after next week, you will have 20 completed cards ready to send.  More, if you took the last class and did the to go kit.  Great for me, because they have 20 and I have 20.... yippee!  That is a great start!

Have a great weekend!

November Class Share!

Hello!  I finally got all my cards done for my next class!  I had a lot trouble with being creative, sometimes that happens.  Of course, I think it made it worse knowing that I had to hurry and get them done because my class was fast approaching.  I like to teach the last week of the month but it just doesn't work out for the holiday months.  I like to have my December class real early in the month, so that I have time to get my cards done, so moving that one up, means I have to also move up the November one.  It is only a week and a half away!  I like to have more time between classes, but ... well, it is, what it is!  Anyway, I love the cards and of course, I have them to show you.  Enjoy!

First, is a shadow box type card with a beautiful nativity from Impression Obsession ...

The nativity is die cut out of some shimmer cardstock in cream, which doesn't show up in the photo.  This card stands up on it's end, so I opted to only add a pocket on the backside so that I wouldn't interfere with this.  There is a pull out sentiment panel ...

Next, up used a set of tree dies from Elizabeth Crafts.  Here is the front ...

And the coolest pop up tree on the inside ...

 A close -up ... it swings ...

And lastly, a tri-shutter card that we have done before, but it is so easy and fun to make ...

And here it is fully opened with the cutest elves ...

Here are the class details, if interested ...

Tis the Season! - Wed. Nov. 11th 11 a.m. and Sat. Nov. 14th 2:30 p.m. $28

Three more Christmas cards will be made in this class, all are perfect for the special people on your list!  First, we will be making a beautiful nativity shadow box card.  Next, is a card with the coolest pop up tree inside that I have ever seen.  So, easy to make with special dies!  And lastly, a repeat of a favorite of mine, a tri-shutter card.  This whimsical card with elves will be perfect for a special friend.  Please bring adhesive to include small pop ups, scor-tape, detailed scissors, and your preferred coloring medium.  Copics used: YG63, R24, E57, B37, B52, YR23, E00, R00.
