Saturday's Sketch Share (on Sunday)!

Hello!  I am either a tad late or a tad early if I wanted to share with you our last two Halloween sketch cards!  I love Halloween and in past years I have sent some cards, but this year, I just ran out of time.  Truthfully, there was one day early in the week that I felt like was my last chance to make a few, and what happened that day?  I bought a new car!  And so, I wasn't home to create like I thought would be.  Let's get to today's cards, mine, then Debbie's and then the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

Both cards came out great!  I got this Halloween set of images from Stampendous that were in parts, like the head, the body, the arm, and the legs were all separate stamps.  How perfect for this sketch as I needed some space between the body and the legs.  I wish I could have done some other cards with the other images like a witch, Dracula, etc.  Next year! I love how on Debbie's card, she made the main panel a fun designer paper and then added her image on top of the horizontal strip.  Her doing that shows me that this sketch is more versatile than I thought it was.  Thoughts?

Cards for Fishermen x 2!

Hello!  A couple days ago, I showed you three cards for hunters, today, I have two cards for fisherman.  These were all made for an order from a friend at church who wanted hunting and fishing men birthday cards.  I own a lot of whimsical, cute fish stamps, but I really felt that for these I needed some fish images that were more realistic, not so cutesy, of which I do not own.  But, I have great friends who I can borrow from!  My friend Karolyn provided me with two fish stamps (can't remember the company name, but I can find out if interested).  Here are two fishing cards for you... enjoy!





I wasn't exactly sure about coloring the fish, but I tried to just follow the image on the designer paper.  Remember the Hunter's Prayer I found for the hunting cards?  Well, I also found a Fisherman's Prayer, so I added it to the inside of this card.

My second card uses a realistic fish along with a little humor!  Again, I wasn't sure about coloring.  I found an image on Pinterest and tried to follow it.  I think it worked!

My friend had this teeny die of a fishing pole from Taylored Expressions so I combined it with this great big fish and used a sentiment from My Favorite Things.  On the inside I thought I could a fun sentiment would match.

Cards for Hunters x 3!

Hello!  A while back, a friend from church asked me if I could make her some fishing and hunting birthday cards for men.  I said, oh sure, I can make any theme you want.  All the while, I was thinking in my head, why I am saying yes to hunting, I have no hunting stamps!  I did have to get a little creative.  First was to find me some hunting papers, then do a little internet search, and then also pull out some stamps I haven't used in a long time.  All this equals to the three cards I have to show you today.  Enjoy!   
 

 

This paper from Bo Bunny had all kinds of animals, bears, moose, in the trees in an all over pattern.  I simply picked three places of the sheet that had deer and die cut them out into circles.  I thought the sentiment from my stash was perfect.  Could either apply to hunting or birthdays! 

 

 



 

This second card also has some designer paper, the camouflage one is from Reminisce.  This is where the internet came in.  I found this awesome Hunter's Prayer on Pinterest.  So, I just picked a font on my home computer and printed it out onto some Kraft colored paper.  Add the copper brads on the card added some interest. 

 



 

This one is the most impressive to me, as I, and that is a capital I, created that little scene in the oval with some Stampscapes stamps that I haven't used in a  while!  Stamps included the trio of small pines, which I stamped more than once, the large tree, that appears in the front, the deer, and two different ground coverings.  I stamped all the images in black onto glossy white paper.  Then I used the Tim Holtz Ditress inks and sponges to add some color.  It is not perfect, but this it got the job done!  And adding some designer paper, complete the card. 

 

Tomorrow, I will be back with two fishing cards, one I have already shown you, like a month ago.

As you can see, it is one of the tall and skinny sketches. I think I like this one and it could work just as well if you did in an A2 size. 

I still have several cards that I haven't shown you.  Hopefully, I can do a little catch up this week.
The last few days I have been prepping for my next class,  It is still over two weeks away but it is the big "crazy" one so I know better than to wait until the last minute!  There are a lot of sign ups for it ... good thing since it is a lot of work ... "crazy"!

November Class Share!

Hello!  I worked almost non stop for three days to try to get the card samples finished for my next class so there is plenty of time to promote it!  I call this my CRAZY class!  Because, I do a LOT of prepping for it.  In fact, I have to start this week, even though the class is a month away!  The description below explains all that is included in this class, but basically you put together 15 cards in class.  In addition you have a "to go kit" which includes one half of a 6 x 6 pad, with diagrams and measurements for a second set of cards, all the colored panels, both inside and out, and all the stamped or die cut images.  Wow, it is a lot!  Hence, crazy!  There is a group photo on the store's website.  But, I want you to be able to see them here individually.  Enjoy!

 

 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I love them all! Which is your favorite?  If you are interested in a kit or can come to class, it is very important that you sign up  as soon as possible, as there is a limit.  Here is the official class description...

From One 6 x 6 to a Bunch of Christmas Cards!  Wed. November 9th 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. AND Saturday, November 12th 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. $40

I taught this class last year and it was a huge hit.  But I told myself, wow, that was a crazy class to do!  Don't do that next year.  Guess what?  I am not taking my own advice and we are doing it again!  Here's the deal, you will follow my samples to create 15 complete cards.  In addition, as part of your kit, you will receive the remaining half of a 6 x 6 pad from Echo Park called I Love Christmas, my detailed instructions and measurements for each page left in your pad, so that you can add your own white cardstock base and create a second set of cards at home, plus you will also receive any stamped or die cut images and all the colored panels for your "to go kit".  If 15 cards are plenty, then you will have embellishments, colored cardstock panels, and half of a 6 x 6 pad to create other items with.  The class is limited to 30 people.   Please bring adhesive to include pop ups, mini or micro glue dots, an X by Xyron (if you have one), detailed scissors and your preferred coloring medium.  All other supplies provided.  (Copics I used: E00,  G43, R27, E35, YR23, E77, E41/E42, E43, R00, R01, E43, E29, N3, BG10, YR15, R24).

Oh, one more thing ... if you took my class last year, you might remember (even though I did NOT) that the to go kits did not have colored cardstock panels included, but this year, they do!  And that is really because I put out this description stating so before I realized differently.  All I can say, you ladies are very lucky!

Hello!  Wow, what a week it was ... early in the week I prepped for my October class, then taught and then also spent many hours making the samples for my November class, all 15 of them!  So, today I will have two posts for you. First, this one with the share between Debbie and I. I think we both thought this was kinda of a weird sketch.  I think it really worked for both cards, but how often would it work for other images?  When I saw the circles, I thought bubbles and my Halloween frog set.  Cute, huh?  And Debbie's witch card, hilarious!  Looks like something that might happen to me! Ha, Ha!

I really like how both cards came out.  And this is a great sketch where you need a long horizontal panel.  I think I have used one of those witch feet but never all three on the same card.  Perfect!  What do you think of this sketch?

I made five cards this last week for an order for a lady at church so I will have those to show you next week.  It is also my teaching week, so I will be prepping again.  And, I am still hoping to get the next "crazy" class samples done too!

October Class Share Add-On!

Hello!  I have one more card to add to the two cards I showed you a couple of days ago.  This card's main image is with a brand new die from Impression Obsession and it is beautiful.  If you missed my other two cards for my class be sure to scroll down to see them.  They are both so fun.  Now this one adds that touch of elegance this class needed.  Here is the third class card ... enjoy!

October Class Share!

Hello!  Late Saturday night, I had a thought ... when is my next class?  I knew I was going to make the samples early this week and I was thinking I would still have another week before my class week ...NOT!  I am teaching next Wed., a week fro this Wed.  Oh my goodness!  I like to teach late in the month so I know the time I have to make samples and prep for my class.  I did remember that I had to move my class week up because of happenings at the store but I was thinking I had another week and I do not!  I finished two of the three cards today.  For my third card I am wanting to use a new die from Impression Obsession and the owner is sending it to me.  So, in a couple of days I will have an add on card to show you.  But for now, here are the first two.  They came out so darn cute, I absolutely love both of them.  I know you will too!  Enjoy!

First up is a kitchen scene with a new stamp line for the store to carry, Lawn Fawn ...

Excuse my finger but I wanted to show how the oven door actually opens!  Cool!
And the inside ...

The second card uses a new stamp set from Inky Antics.  The fun part for the recipient is that there are silver circles inside and out and that when they use a coin to scratch them off, messages are revealed.  Here is the front of the card ...

 

The bottom circle says "Snow Glad We're Friends" and the top circle says "Stay Cool".  The front of this card is really fun, but when it is opened, it is a huge "wow" ....



 

 

This wide four part horizontal panel just pops up when the card is opened.  The photo really does not show how cool it really is!  There are two more circles to be scratched off that say "Frosty Friends" and "Make Winter Fun".  I had seen this card on pinterest and thought it would be a good class card to do.  But, even it wow's me!!

 

This is all I have so far.  I will have the third card in a few days.  But, I will go ahead and give you the details in case you are interested in coming or would like a kit.  Call the store at 972-923-3151.

Enjoy The Ride!

Hello!  Today I have a birthday card for my step daughter.  I wanted to do a funny card, so I decided to stamp one of the old ladies from Art Impressions.  I know I can hear you, you are thinking old lady for my step daughter.  Let me show you my card first, and then I will tell you what I wrote on the inside and you will then "get it"!  Enjoy!

So, on the inside I wrote something about you better ride fast that "40" is coming!  Happy 39th!  See?  And of course, the card had to have purples, as that is her favorite color.  I love how it came out,  Don't you?

Allison in Wonderland Onesie!

Hello!  A couple of days ago I showed you the mini album I made for my niece and hubby. Today I want to share the card that went with the gift.  The onesie is not that different from the ones I have made before but I added a image that went along with her baby shower theme of Allison in Wonderland.  I went looking for some clip art of the mad hatter rabbit.  The ones I liked the most were on Etsy.  They were hand drawn so it made the rabbit seem cutesy instead of scary.  The problem was that they were in color and I wanted it to be black and white so I could color it.  But, I have a friend that knows all about this and she helped me out.  She purchased the image so we would be dealing with copyright issues and then she used some software she owns to take the color out.  She tried to explain it all to me, but still a little greek.  All I know is she did her magic and I was able to complete my card!  Here it is.  Enjoy!

If I create it, it goes on this blog, that is my rule.  So ... I made a hat!  Everyone was supposed to wear a hat to the Mad Hatters  Baby Shower.  My friend Donna and I were supposed to work on them together, but Donna's mom got sick and so I was on my own.  I had purchased from the party store a paper mardi gras hat and our idea was to cover it with paper.  Here is a photo of the hat first.



 

I tried to add paper to this hat, but because it is high on two sides and lower on the other two sides, my paper overlapped at the top and there were huge gaps at the bottom.  It was pretty pitiful.  Ripped the paper off and decided go to Plan B.  Look on pinterest and they have tons of  tutorials but they were like easy tutorial, will only take you 4 hours ... what?? NOT!  Forget that, I got chipboard, taped around my head.  Added paper, struggled with adding paper at the top, but figured who was going to see the top when it is on my head!  Added cardstock for the brim (used a big plate to make the circle) and even made it double thickness when I realized I could see paper on the underside.  Then I worried that the brim wasn't flat, that it was wavy.  Sent a selfie (ugly selfie) to my friend Debbie.  She thought it was fine.  She also gave me a suggestion of adding glittered hearts for some pizzazz.  Great idea!  Here is a photo of my finished hat.

 

Believe me, I don't want to make a hat ever again, let me just stick to cards (and maybe books and boxes)!

I think we both really liked this sketch.  I borrowed this adorable set of stamps from my friend Karolyn.  I need to make time to do a few more cards with the set before I give them back to her.  So fun!  What do you think of this week's cards and sketch?

I still have a couple more cards to share so I am going to set them up for tomorrow and Monday.  I am working on some more hunting and fishing cards for an order, so when I get them done, I will show you.  Also, this next week I have to get my class samples done for my October class and my November class.  So, much stamping to do, so little time!

Please continue sending prayers to my best friend, Donna's mom.  She is to have open heart surgery today or tomorrow.  This is just one of several medical issues she is having.  Her name is Edie.  Thanks!
