Merry Tex-Mas!

Hello!  Today is Texas Tues-Step Tuesday.  The last Texas Tues-Step, I noticed that Mark, from Deadbeat Designs, who is on the Texas team commented that I must have a stash of paper!  That comment gave me a little giggle, because I DO!  And, darn it, I love that I do!  Anyway, it got me thinking about a card I made several years ago with different strips of paper in the shape of a Christmas tree.  The difference between then and now is that I used to make patterns on paper by embossing or adding inks and now I use pre-printed paper.  I dug through a box of old cards and came up with the card I had in mind, so I will show you it after I show you my Texmas card.  Enjoy!

O.k. so in case you haven't ever done this technique, it's simple. Cut your shape out of chipboard.  Add tape or glue to whole shape.  Cut strips from various papers or ribbon and lay across your shape.  Pieces will hang over the sides.  After all pieces are added, then you go back and recut out your shape out.  My friend, Donna, made some great ornaments for the tree one year like these.  She used a large ornament shape.  For my Texas shape, I stamped Deadbeat Design's Texas stamp.  I own a Texas punch but I don't think it is as large as the stamp and besides I figured I would rather cut chipboard with scissors instead of punching.

Recipe:

Paper - BasicGrey 6 x 6 pad called Jovial, Cardstock Red, Green
Stamps - Texas by Deadbeat Design, Sentiment by Verve
Ink - Versafine Black
Tools - Classic Circle Nestiblities, Sizzix Basic Grey Sugar embossing folder
Other - Red Rhinestones by Queen & Co.

You might check the other Texas Tues-Step team member blogs.  I think some will participate if they can find the time with just a few days left before Christmas.  Today, I finished making the money holder cards I have been working on, so I will show you them tomorrow.  So, stop back by.

Happy Stamping!
Tina

  4. Tina, your card is fabulous. I love the idea of strips of paper and have actually been hoarding some leftover strips and I might just have to put them to a Texas use.
