Some Bunny Loves You!

Hello!  I know my blog posts have been a little sporadic lately, but in between making cards for my blog, I have been trying to come up with a couple of card ideas that can work as Easter cards that I can send to family and friends. Actually, today's card would be a perfect Easter card design, but I don't have enough of this paper to make more than a couple of cards.  Will I be near somewhere that I could get more?  Maybe, maybe not.  But then again, the card is so cute, I might have to do more with some other papers ..."hmm"! O.k. I had better stop teasing you about my card and get to it!  I found on one of the blogs where they used a straight border punch and added a few cuts so they could make it into a circle!  They call it a "punched circle edge".  I had to try it!  Wait until you see... so cool!  Here is the post where I first saw this done.  She linked this post here for the tutorial.  Now, let me show you my card and then I have a tutorial for you too!  Enjoy!

You recognize this border punch, right?  Is this not cool, or what?  Yes, I know we have Spellbinders dies that do this, but not the same design!  In the first tutorial I read from the blog, they suggested you measure your circle that you want your punch edge to go around.  I couldn't find a measuring tape so I went with a smaller size circle and "hoped" that my 11 inch strip would make it all the way around ... and it did!  Yea!

Below are my instructions combining info from both the blog tutorial and a tutorial I found on Splitcoast Stampers, plus my tips -
1. Cut a piece the length you need x 1 inch.
2. Use a small scalloped punch to punch one of the long sides.
3. Now, cut little triangles from the long, unpunched side towards the scalloped edge every 1/4 inch along the whole piece ... be careful not to cut into the scalloped area.  You want to end up with a piece no wider than about 1/2".
4. Apply adhesive to the back of the round layer along the outside curve, working about 2 inches at one time.
5. Adhere the punched border to the backside making sure the punched edge shows from the front.  Just work one section at a time, manipulating it around the circle, being careful not to tear the punched border. One tutorial suggested to start applying the strip at about where "8" on a clock face is.  This person says that when you look at something, you eye goes up and to the left - so you want to avoid starting/stopping the strip in the upper left where your eye will detect it. I think this is probably true.

I had a little trouble where the two ends meet, I just overlapped them as much as possible.  And then ... I put the bow and button there to cover it up!  I also had one place, that tore apart.  You might can see it in the above photo.  It is on the left bottom side.  As it turns out, my little tag covered this up too!  So, no one would ever know that there were a couple of problems.  Well, you do, but that is because I told you!  I definitely think you should give this a try.  If you do, let me know what you think!  And let me know also what you think of my cute bunny card!
