Altered Frame with Bible Quote!

Hello!  Today I have a frame that I altered for my friend Donna's birthday.  It has the bible quote of "Trust in the Lord with all your heart ...".  It is just a great reminder to us to remember to trust in God's plan.  A couple of months ago, I was at the dollar store and I saw a plaque with this quote on it, and thought about getting it for her, but then looking at it, I thought, that really "looks" like it came from the dollar store!  So, I thought maybe I would do a frame myself, as I knew I had a stamp by Stamp A Mania with this quote on it.  So, this frame was at the church bazaar and I got it for next to nothing.   It is a rustic frame but it doesn't look that way now!  Let me show you how it came out ... enjoy!

What do you think?  Do you like how it came out?  She said she likes teal and purple, so I went with those colors!  The only thing I don't like is it is kinda big, but then again, being big, allowed me to do lots of embellishing!  Over all I think it came out great and was so fun to decorate!

Life is Just a Roll of Cherries!

Hello!  I am posting this a little late today because the card I have for you today is the birthday card I made for my friend Donna, and I wanted to make sure she has it before she happens to see this online!  We are off today for a little mini getaway to Bossier City and so the card I made is goes right along with our little trip.  Let me show you why ... enjoy!

I looked around on the internet and found the sentiment "Life is just a roll of cherries!" I printed this off and put it on the inside of the card!  It was better than the other sentiment I found... slots is like crack for old people!  Funny!  I love how the card came out, don't you?  FYI, the stamp is from Inky Antics.

I have tomorrow's post ready to show you the altered frame I made for her gift.

Last of the Card Pouches!

Hello!  The church bazaar that I have been making things for was last Friday.  Our advertising wasn't the best so we really didn't get the outside traffic we were hoping for, but even without it, we did awesome.  Between the bazaar items, the bake sale, the lunch, and the quilt sales giveaway, I think it brought in over $3000.  Even  though is now over, I still haven't shown you all the stuff I made.  So, today I am showing the last pics of the cards and card pouches.  I made 10 sets and I sold half of them.  Not bad.  And the thing is, I can use the cards as needed for myself.  I mean the Christmas sets that I am showing you today, did not sell at all!  So, that means I have 8 cards ready for Christmas!  Yea!  Let me show you ... enjoy!

The last two sets above I really like.  Love how they came out!  I have been asked to teach this and so, you will probably see this again when I get to my class samples for January.

My friend Donna and I are off tomorrow for a little mini getaway for her birthday.  I am setting up a couple posts for you now to show you while I am away.  I still have to show you the post-it notes I made for the bazaar, but I want to spend some time on that one, giving you instructions, so I am putting that one off until Friday when I get back home.

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another share between Debbie and I.  You have been seeing Halloween cards from me for a few weeks, but today Debbie is joining me.  This is one of those weeks that we had a choice between circle or square - we both went with the square choice - a small square (4 1/4 inch).  I am really enjoying that size, especially since it will still fit into an A2 size envy!  Both cards are so cute ...... let's get to it.  Enjoy!

The Sketch Choices
And a close-up of the second half of the sentiment on my card ...
Too funny, huh?  Looking at the picture above, I am not sure why it dosen't look real clear.  I do also have to tell you that on Debbie's card, I used one of those spiral things behind the ghost image so it really shakes!  Don't you love "Frank" on Debbie's card?  He is just too cute!

I love Halloween cards, mainly because I never can resist all the cute Halloween stamps.  And Halloween is a time that I have so many childhood and adult memories of great times.  I am sad to say that this year, I probably won't be sending Halloween cards.  I was so busy this week, with other crafting items and I am running out of time. Oh well, next year!

See you tomorrow for Sunday words of wisdom!

Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  I am loving my new Sunday posts with "words" from my pinterest board!  Every week, I pick one to share with you.  I try not to think too hard on which one is the best one.  After all, they are all great.  I try to just pick the one that "speaks to me" first!  This is it for today ... enjoy!

Have a great weekend!  See you next week!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another share between Debbie and I, but today you get a bonus card from me!  You see, Monday is Debbie's birthday.  In the past, I would do a birthday themed card for my sketch card and call it good.  But, since I have been doing Halloween cards the last few weeks for the shares, I wanted to continue that, and also do a birthday card.  I decided to just do the same sketch, thus giving you an extra look at the same sketch.  So, let's do it.  Here are my two cards, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card (#1)

My Card (#2)

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
Debbie told me that when she first saw this sketch, she saw the flag, and knew she had to make it work ... and it does!  Great job!  The Halloween card I did is really all about the paper.  The left strip is a 12 x 12 with all these fun owls on it, so I thought it would be perfect to pair up with my Halloween owl set from Darcies.  The other two strips on the card are also from a 12 x 12 and is one of those papers that have a bunch of borders on it.  I rarely get to use these papers, but for this card, it was a perfect fit.  When I was at the store the other day to teach, they had marked down a set of stamps and dies from Sizzix to half price.  It had my name on it ... hee, hee!  And perfect timing for a cute card for Debbie for her birthday!  The cake time sentiment I cut off a larger wood mounted stamp from Endless Creations.  I added the rest of the sentiment to the inside of the card.  It reads "Serving up a birthday filled with wishes and happiness."  Love it!  Hope you like all three cards this week.

I hope to finish up the card sets this weekend, so that I can show you those early next week.  It is a must, as the church bazaar is next Friday!  I will see you tomorrow for the Sunday quote of the day!  I am off today to teach!

Be Still!

Hello!  The card I have for you today is one I made for a friend over a month ago. I thought I had posted it, but I found that I had not, so since this is my teaching week, I thought this would be a great time to sneak it in!  Enjoy!

Yes, I made it for a sympathy card, but really it could be for any occasion.  Simple but pretty!  Of course, the sentiment is from Verve.  It is probably my favorite bible quote.  Pretty, huh?

Have A Cool Yule!

Hello!  The card I have for you today was actually made by Donna and I.  It is a card that last week we made 20 of to put in the boxes that the Blue Star Mothers send quarterly to the troops.  This month we will be sending Christmas items like stockings, lights, etc., so Donna and I decided instead of making our usual patriotic cards we should do a Christmas card.  Right now, all of the care packages we send are to men, so I went looking for something that would be guy appropriate.  I found a stamp that I bought I think last year at one of the conventions that had never been inked up.  And, we went searching for papers that would work.  This is what we came up with ... enjoy!

I am showing you the inside too, because the sentiment for the inside could not be more perfect.  Both the sentiments are from Darcies, and the penguin is from Sparkle and Sprinkle.  The paper we used was from one of those bargain 12 x 12 paper pads you get at the chain store.  You know the text weight ones, but it worked great for this.  Of the 20 cards we made, Donna colored 13 and I colored the last 7.  I cut all the pieces while she was coloring and then while I colored she put the cards together.  We make a great team!  (in more ways than one!)  I love how they came out.  I hope you do too!

Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  For today, I have two quotes for you.  The first one, I found on my Pinterest board and I hope it will be especially helpful for a special friend.  It is also something we all need to remember.  The second one is actually a stamp from Stampendous.  I picked this one, as today is my mom's birthday.  She would have been 98.  After my dad died in 1996, she enjoyed a little stamping, and she loved this quote and even made quite a few magnets with it.  So, in honor of her birthday, I am including a second quote of the day!    Enjoy!

This next week is my teaching week.  It is earlier in the month because of happenings going on either in or around the store on the week I usually teach.  I do have the card that I was going to show you yesterday, so I am writing that one now and setting it up for Tuesday.  So, look for that.

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I had a card to show you yesterday, but I didn't get it posted because we had to take Red, our Pom, to the vet to have her put down.  She was very old and not doing well.  It was just time.  She was originally my hubby's dog, but I will sure miss her, as she was crazy about me and she absolutely loved to go to my craft shack with me.  I would be out there for hours and she never complained.  I will do the post for the card you missed early next week.  Now, on to today's share.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
This sketch has a lot going on.  I like it, but it is a little busy.  I had that frog stamped and die cut on my desk from last week's private class, so knowing it would be the right size image, I worked my papers and other sentiments around it.  I had a little trouble deciding what to add where the flower in the sketch is, but when I tried the spider, I thought, "o.k. that is pretty cute!"  Debbie says there are a lot of birthday's in their family during the month of October and so that is why she went with a birthday theme.  I love that big fancy rhinestone grouping she added on her card!  What do you think of this week's sketch?  Is it too busy or not?

I will see you tomorrow for the Sunday Words of Wisdom post.

Blessings Big & Small!

Hello!  This is a continuation from yesterday's blog post, as I am showing you the second of two notecard sets and card pouches that I have made for the church bazaar.  For this one all four cards in the set, were exactly alike and here is the card ... enjoy!

And here is the picture of the outside of the card pouch that they all fit in ...

The next pic shows the card pouch opened ...

I thought the card pouches were hard to make at first, but now that I have made about six of them, they are getting easier!  I still want to make at least 4 more.  I am thinking a Christmas one, even though I personally would probably not send notecards instead of regular cards at Christmastime, but some might.  So, I will show you those when I get them done.  The sentiment used on this one is from Verve.

Live in Thanksgiving Daily!

Hello!  A couple of days ago, I made two more notecard sets with two more pouches.  I am going to show you one set today and save one to show you tomorrow.  I bought this fall 6 x 6 pad from Echo Park called Fall Reflections thinking I would use it for one of my class cards, but then I changed directions and made a pumpkin instead.  I thought about exchanging it at the store but then I thought the colors would make for pretty notecards for the bazaar.  And they do!  My two sets ended up being different mainly because I only had one 12 x 12 of the gold cardstock for the pouch.  So, even though tomorrow's set uses the same papers, it is quite different.  Let me show you today's cards ... enjoy!

First, a close-up of the layout of the all four cards ...

Next picture shows all four cards ..
And here is the card pouch ...

And the inside of the card pouch ...

I gave instructions and the measurements to making the card pouches in this blog post here.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession.  Love the way it is written.

See you tomorrow!

Coasters for Church Bazaar ... Done!

Hello!  I just want to share a quick post to show you the finished coasters that I made for the church bazaar.  Well, mostly made by myself.  I got a little help from a couple of the church ladies and then I passed them off this last weekend so they could finish adding the cork squares to the bottoms (that I punched out) and tie the ribbons around them (that I picked out from my stash)!  I still not crazy about how so many show wrinkles.  But, I figure it is bound to happen with such thin paper and glue!  Here is a picture so you can see all of them ... enjoy!

And here is a close-up of one ... they are much brighter with the Krylon on top!

Here is the back of one to show you how I did the cork on the bottom.  Originally, I was going to do solid 4 x 4 inch squares, but when we ended up making so many (15 sets of 4), I decided the squares would have to do. I think it works fine.  They no longer make a noise when you set them down.

And here is one with the ribbon tied on ...

Now, to Terry and any others that have had problems of yellowing when they added the Krylon, this is what I used ...

No, yellowing!  Woo Hoo!  It says right on the can ..."Permanent protective gloss finish, non-yellowing".  I am thinking maybe they have made the formula better.  One question, does anyone have any thoughts about what price we should put on the sets?

I am working on some more note card sets.  I'll be back tomorrow or the next day to show you those.

Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Hello!  I am sharing another favorite from my Pinterest board.  This time I thought, don't spend too much time trying to figure out which one is the best one, just pick the first one that "speaks" to you!  This is it ... does it "speak" to you?

See you next week!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  Sorry I am late in posting today.  I headed off early to walk in one of the parades with the Blue Star Mothers.  Doing my part to remind everyone to support our troops.  It is just a feel good thing to do and it is fun!  Let's get to today's cards.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
I have actually done this sketch before.  I like it.  I think the opposite rectangles adds interest and it is a larger panel for the main image.  The only issue is that you need a little room at the top for the sentiment panel.  Between my class teaching and my time spent on making things for the church bazaar, I already know I won't be sending Halloween cards out this year, so since I keep buying more Halloween stamps (like the one seen here), I figured I had better at least use them on the Saturday shares!  Debbie is right on target too!  Football!  Great for my hubby and her card, but not for me!  But, every time Gary has a game to watch, that is time for me and my crafts!  Yea!

I will see you tomorrow for my Sunday post, my favorite quote for the day.
Have a great weekend!
