Saturday's Sketch Share Week 3!

Hello!  I have another sketch share for you today!  Each week, my friend Debbie, and I both create a card with the same sketch and send it by snail mail to each other on Tuesday.  I look so forward to the mail lady coming on Wednesday and I always know that one day a week something fun will be in the mail for me!  So, let's get to this week's!  Here is my card, her card and the sketch.  Enjoy!

My Favorite Things Class Share!

Hello!  I promised I would try to be back before the end of the week with a new card to share with you.  Well, for two days I have been out in my shack, doing my class preps for the class I am teaching tomorrow.  I think I forgot how long it takes to cut all the pieces, and there are many more pieces than the cards I made for the store because now there is so much layering of the designer papers.  Not complaining, just telling ya how it is.  One of the class kits, had 16 pieces of paper, plus twine, and, plus baubles. I also had to check and recheck the kits to make sure I didn't leave anything out.  When I had my own store, and taught classes, if I didn't cut all the pieces, I just went and cut what I needed.  I will not have that luxury now.  And you should see my list of what to take for the class.  All I can say is wow!  Again, I won't have the luxury of taking what I need off the shelf.  Thanks for letting me vent a little here!  Since, I don't have a new card, I thought I could share my class cards.   Enjoy!

I am not going to talk about how I made them, since I am teaching a class. But, I can give you the recipes. I made two extra kits so if no additional people sign up or claim the kits, I will be trying to find someone to buy them from me. We'll see. Wish me luck. I hope I like it and I hope they like me!

Hola Chica!

Hello!  I am back with a card with another little chickie from my new Verve Chick's Rule set!  Love it!  For the sketch, I went with the current challenge from Mojo Monday.  To me, they have the best sketches!  Anyway, I also saw Verve is doing a "color me spring" color challenge this week, and since my card definitely has spring colors, I will be entering my card in that challenge as well!  So, let's just get to it!  Here is my card and the sketch.  Enjoy!

For once, I don't have a lot to say about how the card is made!  Can you believe it?  No long winded details?  But, I do have to say, I think I followed the sketch pretty darn close.  And it is definitely a sketch I will do again.  Love the layout, and love my card!  What do you think?

Have A Bluebonnet Day!

Howdy!  This is my greeting for Texas Tues-Step!  As promised, I made a bluebonnet card for you.  After all, it IS that time of year!  We have had such a drought that I don't think there are as many out as there were last year, but I still have seen a lot and love it every time I see a field of them!  Or any wildflower for that matter!  I think my hubby thinks it is kinda silly how excited I get when I see a field of wildflowers and several times I have asked him to pull over so I can take a picture!  Love the wildflowers, especially the bluebonnets!  Let's get to my card ... enjoy!

I hope you can see my card all right.  It didn't scan so well because I added that bulky beaded pin.  I have seen many packages of beaded pins in the scrapbook stores.  But this one, I made myself!  I purchased a package of fancy head pins at Michaels with a coupon (of course!) and added a couple of beads, one from my stash and one I also got at Michaels.  I bought a whole string of the clear beads for accent.  To make them stay, I just add a drop of Diamond Glaze.  Easy Peasy!  And each one will be a match for my card I am making!  I also want to talk about how I did the bluebonnet and only cut out part of the oval.  I know there is a tutorial on how to do this somewhere but I didn't have it, so I improvised!  I did direct to paper for the bluebonnet, Tombows colored on the stamp and spritzed with a little water, before stamping.  Then, before I ran the panel thru the Big Shot with the Spellbinders oval die, I layed a thick piece of cardstock over the top of the flower image so that it would not cut where the flower was.  I then could go around the flower with my scissors.  It worked pretty good, but I could see the shape of the cardboard impression in the paper.  So ... I ran the whole thing thru an embossing folder to cover it up.  It worked and it gave the card more interest ... a happy mistake?  Yes, I think so!  What do you think?  Do you like my card?

Chicks Rule!

Hello!  Today I am using a couple of stamps from a new Verve set that I couldn't resist ordering.  Every stamp in the set, are ones that I will use and I also can see them combined with stamps I already have too!  I am telling you this now, so you won't be surprised when you see many different cards posted with the set.  For today's card, it is a total CASE of a card designed by Amy Sheffer who is on Verve's design team.  Do you remember what CASE stands for?  It is an abbreviation for Copy And Share Everything.  And with today's card, I did just that.  Click here to see Amy's card.  And, here is mine!  Enjoy!

Did you notice, I cased even the double button embellishment she had on hers?  Amy doesn't know me, but that doesn't mean she did not inspire me.  I love how there is all this wonderful inspiration out there in blog land to take advantage of.  Thanks Amy!  Is this not the cutest card?  I love how it came out even if it wasn't my original idea!

Saturday's Sketch Share Week 2!

Hello!  Today I have another sketch share between my friend, Debbie & I.  We decided to do all the sketches from the month of February from Viva la Verve.  So, this week's is the sketch from week 2.  I will get right to it.  Here is my card, Debbie's card and then the sketch we both did.  Enjoy!

The Sketch

It is so fun to see how two people can look at the same sketch and come out with totally different cards.  For me, this sketch at first glance seemed difficult, but after I finished, I thought that I really liked it and could see me doing this layout again in the future.  A few details about my card ... I got the owl ribbon a while back, not knowing I still had any paper to match.  I knew I had used this paper on one of the first cards I made for the blog, but figured the paper was long gone.  I was real happy when I found a scrap so I could combine the ribbon and the paper.  My little owl and his sentiment bubble with "hoot" inside are all from one of the Woodware stamp sets.  The twine and button addition was not on the sketch but the panel just needed something and I thought this was perfect.

Yesterday, our mail lady brought me a new set of Verve stamps that I had to order called Chicks Rule!  Woo Hoo!  So, next week, I will be showing you some cute chickies.  Some of those cards I will be making into Easter cards as it is only 3 weeks away.  Tuesday will bring us another Texas Tues-Step creation.  And I will be spending at least one day preparing for my class that I am teaching at The Crafty Scrapper.  The details about my class you can find here. (Scroll down to April 9th)  And then, next Saturday, here on the blog, I will have another share between Debbie & I.  All that sounds fun, doesn't it ... see you next week!

Life Gives You Many Reasons To Smile!

Hello!  Happy April Fools Day!  As a child, I was skinny, and shy ... I know that's hard to believe now... anyway, I remember being teased a lot.  So, in my adult life, I don't like to tease.  So, no April Fools Day teasing will be going on here!  Just a day to celebrate another handmade card!  Woo Hoo!  I recently came across a set of stamps from Hero Arts that I haven't inked up yet.  I just had to have them back in December, but with all the holiday cardmaking going on, they got put aside.  I remembered a card I saw in their catalog and the reason why I had to have the set.  I am very visual.  You show me a card  using it and I want it!  My card is similar to the card I saw and very scrapbooky (new word here!), as I paper pieced everything with designer paper.  It is kinda different but I love it.  Let's get to it and then you can be the judge!  Enjoy!

How about that for paper piecing?  I paper pieced 6 different stamps and a couple of the images got stamped onto two different papers like the house and the trees.  I love, love, love those trees.  You will be seeing them again.  I don't remember the card I saw exactly, but I do remember it had this hill with the trees at an angle, like on my card.  It is pretty silly, but kinda cute.  In looking for sentiments to add to the front of my card, which, as you know, I always like to do, I came across this sentiment from Stampin' Up and thought it went perfectly.  What do you think ... do you like my silly card for today?  I would love to hear your comments!
