I'm Thankful For You Most of All!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful day with family and friends.  Today's card is my monthly sketch card for the Sketch for You to Try challenge.  I used a perfect sentiment on the card, which is my wish from me to you.  I will show you my card and the monthly sketch!  Enjoy!

 

 

 

I love this sketch, don't you?  I actually made my card super simple and let the beautiful fall papers work for me!  Simple is good sometimes, right?

Stars in the Sky!

Hello!  Well, I am day late getting back to you.  November's cardmaking has been more about need to make's instead of just creating for fun.  Between the class stuff, the get well cards I showed you on Sunday, the Saturday shares, and now sympathy cards, all that adds up to the way life is sometimes.  But, when I started this blog, I knew that whatever I created, whether it was for fun or obligation, I wanted to show you my creations.  I actually have two sympathy cards to show you and I was going to do them in one post, but now I have decided to show you one today and one on Friday.  Here is the first one.  Enjoy!

 

I love the sympathy sentiment, but I rarely get to use it on a card, as it is not one that works for every person.  But, it is wonderful!  I went with one of my "go to sketches"!  What do you think?

Recipe:
Paper - My Minds Eye Graceful 6 x 6 pad, Cardstock Purple, Natural White
Stamps - Sentiment from Impression Obsession sympathy clear set, Cross by Stampendous
Ink - Memento Black, Copics
Other - Ribbon from DeNami Designs (it is actually a pale yellow, but it worked with the cream pattern papers great), Pearls

Thanksgiving Treats for You!

Hello! I wanted to show you the little added project I had for my class this week. Even though, in this month's class we made three Christmas cards, I added a surprise fall project. I originally thought I would make one for each person, but then decided that it was so cute, that I should just add it as a surprise project for them to make. Everyone loved this little fall treat box. Let me show you. Enjoy!

Cute, huh?  I also thought it was be a fun to add a tag with a name on the front and make it be a place card for each person on Thanksgiving.  Here it how you make it ... First, you make the inside box.  If you wanted more of a square box, you could change the size, but I wanted mine to be smaller, so this is what I went with.  The box is a 5" square.  You score on one side 2" and 3".  Then turn and score 1" on either side.  Here is a visual.  Sorry it is a little messy.  But, at least you can see where the score lines are and see that you have to cut on those two inside score lines only up to the 1"inch. 

Now, you just fold and it will form the box.  Then you die cut two pattern paper circles and adhere them to two scallop circles.  Score 5 of the scallops down and glue to underside of box.  Adhere to sides of box and the box is done!  Decorate!  Easy, Peasy!

One more note, in class, there was discussion about how you could make this also into a Christmas box by maybe making it look like an ornament or if you made the circle smaller, you could create a turkey!  Great ideas!

Dream a New Dream!

Hello! As promised, I am back today with a couple of cards that I made this last week for Donna and her mom, both of whom had surgeries either this week or the week before. My favorite is the one I made for Donna, so I will be showing you that one first! Enjoy!

This "dream a new dream" stamp I got a while back from a friend that was selling some of her stamps she no longer wanted.  It was absolutely a PERFECT sentiment!   And Donna likes purple, so I went with that color scheme.  The other card I just wanted to be pretty.  What do you think?  Do you like the way both cards came out?

Saturday's Sketch Share!

What do you think about this week's sketch?  Personally, I am not that crazy about it.  It just seemed like it needed something more, and that was even after I decided I was happy with the finished card.  The one thing I did do on mine, that is new for me, is how I stamped the sentiment right on top of the main image.  Surprisingly, I really like that!  I might have to do that again sometime!  What do you think?  Do you like the stetch, the cards?

Saturday's Sketch Share!

I am late because I could not get my cards to load this morning.  It seems to be doing better ... below is my post I wrote this morning ...


Hello! Long time no see! We actually got back last Sunday from the cruise. My friend, Donna and had a wonderful time! It seemed it took me a few days to readjust and I only got out to my room one evening to get this one card for today done. Last night I started working on my class kits, as next week is a teaching week for me. I blew off sending Halloween cards as I kinda ran out of time before leaving for the cruise and I can see, that making and sending Thanksgiving cards is probably not going to happen either, so I guess it is good that I have a fall one to show you today. Debbie's card is a fall one too! What a treat. Let's get to it ... I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used. Enjoy!

This was a great sketch, one that should definitely go into the "go to sketch" file. What do you think?   As noted above, with this next week being my class week, I doubt I will get a whole lot of time to just make cards for fun, but I do have a couple of on the list that I must make, so when I finished those, I will pop in for that!

I like this sketch ... well, except for those triangles!  At least on my card, but on Debbie's I think they kinda go, you know like pennants ... and look at her cuttlebugged (new word I just made up!) background ... it reminds me of the outside skin of a football!  Did she plan that?  She must have!  It is a great guy card, isn't it?  Someone should case this one of hers!  On mine, I did enjoy creating my little Turkey card ... gobble, gobble.  And one last note about those triangles, I like that I added the rhinestones on the triangles and think it helps, a little.  What do you think?
