Hello!  I am back with another share between Debbie and I.  We were both thinking spring on this one ... let's get right to it.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

As you are reading this, I am on my way to The Crafty Scrapper for the Make It Take day of fun.  But, back to this post ... what do you think of this sketch?  I think I like it, especially since it is a horizontal layout.  Have you noticed that there seem to be more vertical layouts than horizontal ones? 

I have to get to making a couple of cards for a lady who has already given me payment for what she wants, so I will have those to show you next week, and I am sure something else too.  Also on my personal list, is to work on straightening my stamp shack ... it is awful messy!

Sweet Sixteen!

Hello!  I have been talking about showing you this card for at least a week now.  My Goddaughter turned sixteen and I wanted to make her a special card for the occasion.  I went out to the little local scrapbook store and Mae (the owner) helped me cut out a big 'ole one and six for my card.  I wanted the one to be large enough that my girl image could lean up against it!  Here is my finished card ... enjoy! 

 

 

Yes, I did have to change to a square card because to get the one big enough, the six would not fit on an A-2 size card!  The one and six is out of some glittered cardstock which really makes it fun.  What do you think?  I got a thank you for the card, so I guess she liked it!

Wonderful Flowers!

Hello!  Last week one of ladies from church asked me to make her a card for another church lady and she wanted it to "say friend", so this is what I came up with.  The result is very pretty but the day I was working on it, which I think would have been last Saturday, I was having one of those non -creative days, where everything you try, you hate and it is like pulling teeth to get it to all come together!  Fortunately, those days seem to only happen occasionally for me.  Let me show you my card ... enjoy!

I had these ovals on my desk from one of the last classes where I had cut more than I needed, so I decided to stamp the flowers onto one of them.  But, then I decided I needed a sketch with an oval to make the card come together.  I went to my go-to sketch folder and found that there really aren't that many sketches that have ovals, which is crazy, because I use my oval dies a lot.  So, the end result is a simple sketch, but still so pretty.

April Class Share!

Hello!  Reading the title, you now know why you haven't seen me.  You know that the world around me stops when I am trying to create my class samples!  Silly, but kinda true!  I had a little trouble figuring out what I wanted to do, but once I got some ideas with a help from a friend, it all came together.  I am calling this class Special Occasions Part One!  This gives me a chance to do a part two, probably next month.  So, my three special occasions for this month are Mother's Day, birthday, and get well.  I am thinking part two should be Father's Day, graduation, and wedding.  We'll see!  Let me show you my cards for the class ... enjoy!

As you can see, as with all my class cards, there is always a little something to learn and alot of fun too!  Here are the details, in case you are interested!  Remember, even you aren't local, or can't come, I also do kits, which includes pictures and instructions.

Special Occasions Part One - Wed. April 24th 11:00 a.m. and Sat. April 27th 2:30 p.m.$25

Come make three creative and unique cards for three special occasions. First, is a Mother's Day card where you will learn a fun stamping technique called triple stamping. Next, we have a shaped party hat card for our birthday occasion and lastly, we have a diagonal double pocket card for our get well occasion, which is a gift and card all in one! Please bring adhesive to include pop dots and scor-tape, detailed scissors, and your preferred coloring medium. All other supplies provided. (copic colors I used: card 1: R20, R32, Y21. YG95, BG23 card 2: B000, Y17, Y15, YG25, BG45 card 3: R27, Y15, Y17, C0, E31 ...these are listed only for the convenience of those who have asked me to share the colors I used.)

Just a couple of notes from me about today's cards.  For mine, I was ready for some puny humor!  Shellibrate ... too funny!  And Debbie's ... I love those butterflies!  So bright!  Both cards came out great.  And the sketch, I really do like.  It is a keeper.  And that reminds me that I still haven't given you my new list of go to sketches.  I promise to do that one day next week.

Floral Birthday!

Hello!  Sorry about posting so late today.  The day got away from me.  Yesterday, I told you I would be back with a sweet sixteen card.  That one will have to wait until next week, because today I want to show you a different birthday card I made last night, along with some bad news.  Well, bad news for me, because in making the card I am showing you today, I broke my big shot die cutting machine.  It's my own fault as I was trying to send too much thickness through and instead of stopping, I forced it instead.  I love the cards I have been seeing with the decorative dies as a base. See here for an example.  And on that post, there is a link to a you tube tutorial on how to make a hinge for the filigree type cards.  The tutorial is great and easy to comprehend, but that is where things went wrong for me.  Of course, it might have something to do with the fact that I use 100 lb. cardstock and so trying to cut through two layers (the hinge) with a very intricate die ... well, it just doesn't work.  Period.  That was last night.  This morning I decided I needed to make the pieces I had cut work, so I added the decorative die layer onto a colored cardstock panel and completed the card seen below.  It is still a really pretty card and one that I would like to remake again.  Let me show you.  Enjoy! 

 

I really do love how it came out.  And just think, if I would have done this all along, I would not have broken my big shot.  But, I really wanted to make one of the filigree type cards.  I will be trying again soon but with some lighter weight cardstock, much lighter weight!  Thoughts?

Daisy Tea Time Tote!

Hello!  I have something special to share with you today.  The women's tea is this Saturday at my church.  Last year, they asked me to make some cards for the drawing, which I did.  And of course, they wanted to have some again this year.  Now last year, I had a bunch in my stash, as that was before I rented space to sell my cards.  This year is different, other than my class sample cards, I really don't have a stash of cards to pick from.  I want to remedy this at some point, for now ... I got to thinking about how making 10 to 12 cards would take me some time, so I went looking for an alternative idea!  Pinterest to the rescue!  This is what I found.  For their tote, they used a template that you pay for and download.  I normally am opposed to paying for ideas, and usually can figure things out on my own, but in the interest of time, I figured it was worth paying for.  See here for the download.  I have to say it was so easy to have the templates and clear instructions.  Totally worth the $4 in my opinion.  No regrets!  But, I did have to make the whole tote larger to accompany my clay pot I bought.  Their measurements were 7 1/2" wide, 7" tall, and 3" deep.  My tote is 8 1/2" wide, 9" tall, and 3 1/2" deep, and 4" wide on the side.  I know you are ready to see what I made ... here is the finished tote!  Enjoy!

 

 

 

In their tote, they did a pot of herbs and a candle jar.  Which I thought I would do too, until I thought about it and decided that the church ladies would rather have some handmade note cards instead of a candle!  I bought daises and some purple pansies, not knowing what papers or theme I would go with.  But, then back in my craft shack, I thought of the perfect set of papers.  One actually has teapots and cups on it, and the matching paper, I knew, would be perfect for the tote.  When I remembered the stamp from Inky Antics with the daises in the teacup, I knew exactly which flower to pick and it all came together!  Here are a couple of close-ups ...



The sentiment is from another Inky Antics set, but I thought it would be a great sentiment to add to the front of the tote.  Do you see the glittered butterfly on the tote?  I made another one to add to the daisy pot ... see it here...



Here is a side view of the tote.  The instructions called for a decorative brad to be used on the top of the two sides.  I went to my box of findings and found these two brass charms and added a gold brad to hold them on.  See here ...

On to the card ...I  followed the lead of the tote and made cards to match.  I started with a fun and simple sketch, adding the paper that has the teacups and flowers on it (see in bottom right, part of a teacup) and adding the sentiment, "just a note".  For greeting cards, I always add panels to the inside, but because these were note cards, I left the insides blank.  Between you and me, this was a very good thing, as I would not have had enough purple cardstock to do the insides too!)



I made 6 cards just alike.  And in the next pic, you can see them all tied up with a tag I made on the computer.   

I added one more thing this morning ... I taped a piece of cork in the bottom of the tote where the flower is to sit, as yesterday, when I was taking these pics for you, the pot made a water mark on the bottom of the tote.  Remember, the tote is only made of cardstock, and so that could be a problem if the flower pot is wet on the bottom.  I am hoping the cork will help.  I have set the flower pot off to the side and will do so until I have to put it in.

Once I decided what I was doing, it only took me about two days to complete the whole project.  I could not have made 12 different cards in two days!  And I love it!  What do you think?
