Enjoy Moments!

Hello! Today's card was a bit of a challenge for me and out of my box for sure. You see, last Friday, when I was teaching at The Crafty Scrapper I got to talking to Dee Dee, who is an instructor at the store and I think she is the one that hands out the projects to the store's design team. I know they have all been busy making things for their big booth they will have this weekend at the scrapbook convention. She mentioned there was one stamp set that they still needed a card sample for and she commented that cardmaking just wasn't her "thing", so ... I said, give it to me. I will do it. The stamp set is by Maya Road and has old fashioned clocks on it. I will show you the set later in the post. She also gave me some scrapbook paper to use (Simple Stories Summer Fresh line), which is where some of the challenge came in for me. You see, I often find papers to match up with stamps that look challenging, like finding paper that has clocks to tie it all together. But this paper had no clocks. Anyway, challenge or not, I got it done! And even though it is rather "scrapbooky" (new word... hee, hee), I do like it. And I hope you do too. Here it is... enjoy!

Do you see why I said it was "scrapbooky"?  I used some thickers to create the word enjoy and used the bingo cards from one of the papers to add fun and happy.  So with the moments word from the stamp set, I think it says "enjoy fun and happy moments at 5 o'clock", as that is the time I made the alarm clock to say!  Silly, huh?  I added some glossy accents to the top of the clock dial, just for a little interest.  The scallop border is of course, a Die-namics from MFT called Double Scallop Border, and the twine is from The Twinery.  What do you think?  Do you think it is good enough to help sell either the stamp set or the paper?  I hope so!

Scrapbook convention ... yes, that is where I will be tomorrow!  (That is if I can get some antibiotics called in for my swollen face ... tooth abscess ... I know the signs).  I will have the Saturday sketch share ready before I leave so tune in for that on Saturday.  Maybe I will see you tomorrow at the show?  I sure hope so!

Birthday Balloons For You!

Hello! Remember the sketch from Saturday before last? And, that I had trouble with what to do with it, even though I had made cards with the same sketch before? Anyway, I saw on one of the blogs, how they made the cutest birthday card with the Birthday Bash set from Verve using that sketch. And I thought, I just have to "case" that since I have that set of stamps. So, I did two cards, basically the same, but with two sets of papers, so I guess I will show you both, just for fun! Here they are ... enjoy!

I know that I previously had trouble with the long horizontal panel, but these cards show you exactly what you can do with this panel if you don't have a long image to add.  Just use any smaller image, and a sentiment and it is perfect!  I love it!  This may be have to be one of my "go to" sketches.  So, that means, I am sure you will see this sketch in my future!  What do you think?

Happy Memorial Day!

Today, we honor and remember all men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. 

On a personal note, I got to be in a parade this last Saturday with my friend, Donna and a great group of ladies from Blue Star Mothers.  Donna is a member, as her son, Ryan is in Afghanistan right now.  Ryan is also my godson, so I wanted to participate and do something that shows my support.  The ladies welcomed me, so I proudly wore my I love America T and joined in!  In case, you are not familiar with Blue Star Mothers, it is an organization that is made up of mothers who have children that have served or are serving in the military.  They have monthly meetings where they pray and share support of their children and all of those who are serving.  They also put together care packages that are sent to the troops.  The parade took place in Ennis, TX in conjunction with the National Polka Festival and their Memorial Day celebration.  So, here is the pic of all the ladies from the parade.  We are standing in front of the truck that had flags from all the branches.  So cool!

 

Donna is standing next to me and holding a picture of Ryan.  I do also want to note that a box is set up at The Crafty Scrapper for you to put your donations for the care packages, which are always appreciated. 

Now, I couldn't leave without showing something handmade.  So, I have the pic of the card that Donna made 25 of, to add to the last set of boxes that the Blue Star Mothers put together and sent to our troops.  Here is her card... enjoy!

Saturday's Sketch Share ... Part 2!

Hello! Today I have part 2 of yesterday's sketch share. You see, this week was a week that Donna usually participates, but circumstances prevented her from getting it done until later in the week. Did you notice that Donna was the only one that actually stamped a flower in the middle of the panel?  Debbie and I both used flower dies instead of stamping!  Oh well, I still love how all three came out this week!

I have another card from Donna to share.  It is a patriotic card, so I think I will wait until tomorrow to show you that one for my Memorial Day post.  Donna and I were in a parade yesterday representing Blue Star Mothers and I will have a pic to show you too!  Make sure you stop back by tomorrow!

Bloomin' Fabulous!

Hello! I worked on some cards last weekend so that I could do a couple of posts during this week while I was making class kits and teaching. I got a couple of sets of cards done, but I have not had a chance to write blog posts for them, so that is why you have not seen me all week! I have two cards to show you today. There are actually the same basic sketch and the same papers, but just by changing the main panel's location and the flower dies used on the panel, it gave a total change to the look of the cards! What do you think?  I love the way they both turned out.  I originally was going to just make two exactly alike for two different people but then somehow it evolved into two cards similar but different, which is an advantage so that I have more to show you here!  Which is your favorite?

Saturday Sketch Share!

Hello! I am back today with the weekly sketch share. I know you are going to recognize today's sketch, as it is one I have used before. With that being said, I had trouble with this one. I know you are thinking, "huh"? But, you see I have used this sketch a few times as a sympathy card and basically did the card the same way with the same stamps but different papers. Well, since this is supposed to be a challenge, I wanted to have a new look for my card and change it up. So, I did but not without several tries at different ideas. In the end, I love the new look. Debbie's card is a birthday card for me. She mailed it on Tuesday so I would get it on Wed. on my day! O.k. enough chit chat, let's get to it! I will show you my card, Debbie' card, and the sketch we both used. Enjoy!

I do love this sketch.  But, that long horizontal panel is somewhat of a challenge.  Does it make you think of your own stamps that would fit?
