A Cross for Sympathy!

Hello!  Today's card is a sympathy card I made a couple of weeks ago for a neighbor who lost her husband very unexpectedly.  I don't know this neighbor very well and have only talked to her a few times, but that did not change the fact that I wanted her to know she was in our thoughts and prayers.  I debated whether I should go with a cross on my card, not knowing her religious affiliation, but in the end, I decided it would be o.k.  And it guess it was, because she called me and thanked me for the card.  I think in today's world it is important to try to think of others and when you do, let them know.  Here is my card.  Enjoy!

Keep the Wind in Your Sails!

Hello!  The first card I am going to show you this week is to celebrate Ryan, my Godson's birthday today.  Unfortunately, I had to make the card a belated birthday card even though it went in the mail a week ago.  My Godson is in the Marines in Afghanistan so he won't see his card for at least two more weeks.  So, on the inside I wrote that it was a combination "hang in there, I'm proud of you, and happy birthday"!  That way, only part of the card is late ... yea, right... that is my story and I am sticking to it!  Let me show you ... enjoy!




The sailboat bunny part was made several months ago for a Saturday share swap.  I guess I made three, two were sent for the swap and the third has been in a basket on my desk ever since.  I came across it and remembered that there was a good "stay strong" type sentiment in the set and I thought it would make a good card for Ryan.  I found more of the blue check paper and added some red check to it to complete it.  Do you see the horizontal panel where the twine is?  I had thought I would make this a straight piece all the way across.  Well, I forgot my plan, and I cut it to the same size as the bunny panel.  So, then I added the cut pieces on either side below the bunny panel.  I like it.  Maybe even more than the planned way!  Can we say "happy mistake"?  What do you think?  Do you like the card?

Saturday Sketch Share!

So, after it took me so long to get the class samples done, I was worried that all my cards were going to take that long.  I am very proud to say that this card was decided on and made from start to finish in less than an hour!  Woo Hoo!  My creativity isn't on a slowwww train after all!  The paper I used?  I know you have seen me use this before with this same bear.  It is from an Echo Park 6 x 6 pad and a few days ago, I saw I had one more sheet of the paper, and I thought sometime soon I should use it.  It came to mind when I was thinking what would work for this card.  Do you like the sketch?  I like it much more after doing my card and seeing Debbie's card, than I did just looking at the sketch picture.  How about you?

July Class Share!

Hello! I have spent several days this week working on my class samples, and once again, when I am in the creating process, I feel like the whole world stands still! I say that because I don't get the other things I want to do done, you know, like write blog posts for the three cards that I finished last week but still haven't shown you? So, today, I will show you my class cards. Tomorrow, the Saturday share, and then I promise to write the posts for the others! Here are the three cards I will be teaching in a couple of weeks. I have included several pics of each. Enjoy!

The first is a Hinged Card ...

See above why it is called a Hinged Card ... a hinge is used to create the opening showing the inside sentiment. Next, is a Telescoping or Stacked Card ... The first pic is how it looks closed, and the second pic shows it partially open, and the third pic is open all the way (longer than my printer bed).

And, last but not least, a corner bookmark and a card to match to give with the gift of the corner bookmark. This is totally my own creation, as when I googled corner bookmark card, all I got is where they put the bookmark on the corner and added a for you sentiment on the actual card ... boring! So, I made a "holder" for the bookmark to sit on until it is received. And then, even after the bookmark is removed, the recipient still has a card that has a finished look.

In this class, you will make three creative and unique cards, including a hinged card, an interlocking stacked card, and a card with an attached gift of a corner bookmark. Please bring adhesive, paper piercer, scissors, your preferred coloring medium (Copics, colored pencils, etc.). All other supplies provided.

Saturday Sketch Share!

I do want to let you know that this would normally be the week that Donna would participate, but she will be taking some time off for family time.  Hopefully, down the road, she will join us again!

I got a couple of  needed cards made yesterday, so I will have those to show you early next week.  Next on my agenda is to get my class samples made for my July class.  So, next time I go to my shack that is what I am working on.  But, this weekend, we have company, so it will most likely be early next week before this task gets completed. 

The 4th of July holiday is continuing its celebration this weekend here on Cedar Creek Lake.  This morning we have the property assoc. parade followed by a hot dog lunch.  It's kinda fun because the local fire department  brings all their trucks and we feed them and say thanks for their hard work thru the year.  Then this evening, there is a huge air show over the lake and we are taking our boat out to see it.  Hope your weekend is great too!

Presto ... One Year Older!

Hello!  I have a birthday card for you today.  My inspiration came from a card I created myself back in January.  You can see it on this post.  Same theme, but different layout and different papers.  This time I used a sticker that says "one year older"!  It's funny how certain stamps you just see used in a particular way, even though this stamp is not actually a birthday stamp.  But it is perfect for one and it works!  Here is my latest card using the same TCP stamp!  Enjoy!

What do you think?  I love how it came out.  I think it makes for one perfect, guy card!

Happy 4th of July!

Hello!  Happy Freedom celebration day!  First, I want to take this opportunity to thank all who have fought for our freedom, past and present!  My Godson is in Afganistan right now and I am very proud of him and I send prayers to him and all the other troops today and everyday.  Proud to be an American!  On that note, I have a flag card for you today.  I got my idea from a card on Pinterest.  I will show you mine first, and then the card I CASEd.  Enjoy!

As you can see, the only difference is the star panel.  When I did it, I liked it, but this morning, I almost went back out to my shack to change it and make it more like the card I CASEd, but in the end I decided to keep it the same and show you both cards.  My thinking was that I needed to have 50 stars to represent all of us, just like our flag does.  But, I like the brightness of the white stars on hers!  We both used the Scallop Ribbon Border Die-namics dies from MFT and my star stickers are from Stampendous.  I don't know Beth who created her card, but I thank her for her creativity and inspiration.  Which one do you like best?
