With A Cherry On Top!

Hello!  O.k. at least two weeks in a row, I have had cards to share, but I haven't done blog posts to show you ... that's bad!  And what makes it worse, is seeing that my August count for blog posts is only going to be 15.  I have to do better for September!  After all, you are doing your part by "following" and I must do my part too!  I have two cards for you today. They both are stamped with the same set of stamps and use the same set of papers, new from Bo Bunny.  But, they are so cute ... here they are.  Enjoy!

As you can see, one has the honeycomb cupcake pop-up when you open it and the second card is an easel card.  These two cards I made for a class I am teaching next week at Country Scents, which is a small, local scrapbook store.  I guess I will be kinda like a guest teacher for them as they don't have outside teachers in to teach.  But, Lisa, one of the owners, (the store is owned by mom and daughter, Mae and Lisa, and is located in the big garage at Mae's house) knew I had made many cards with the honeycomb pop-ups and so she asked me to teach it.  I have to say the customers that go to this store, are pampered by these two store owners.  When I gave them the supply list to pass on to the class takers, I was told that they furnish all the supplies and I know for a fact that every time they have a class, they serve lunch!  Wow!  And to add to that, in this class, as part of the class fee, they will be taking home the stamp set too.  Can you say, bargain?

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  We are moving right along though the 2010 sketches from Mojo Monday.  Every four to five weeks, they have a week where there was a choice between a circle card or a square card.  This is one of those weeks.  And this time, Debbie and I had totally different ideas, as I did a circle and she did a square.  So, let's do it!  Here is my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch.  Enjoy!

The Sketch Choices

Note, that my card is kinda weird this week.  I used a printed image on a scrapbook page from one of the new My Minds Eye 6 x6 pads as my focal point, and then added elements to follow the sketch.  I was running way late in completing my card this week, so I left it as it was, but ... do I think the image goes with the flowers, and the heart ?... not really.  Better luck next week!  Hey did you see that on Debbie's card she rotated the sketch?  That is completely legal, and a pretty cool idea!

I am teaching my second class today at The Crafty Scrapper.  I was worried last week whether I would have any sign-ups.  As it turned out, I made 15 kits and all but one is sold. Who knows, maybe one more will sign up today!   Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  Join me in sending prayers to the East coast for those being affected this weekend by Hurricane Irene.  See you next week!

What's Up?

Hello!  I really messed up this week.  Last Sunday, I made two cards to show you, one on Tues. and one on Wed.  I guess, I thought I did both posts ...NOT!  I never did the post for Wed., so here you are this week wondering ... where is she??  Especially, since it is now Friday and you have only seen one card from me this week!  Here is my card that should have been shown on Wed.  Enjoy!

I inked up my new balloon scene stamp I got at the Deadbeat Designs class last week.  This is a very simple card, as the balloons are just colored with pencils and layered with some pattern papers.  The best part is how I used his stamp, What's Up? on the cloud die!  I like how this very simple card turned out!  How about you?

Well, I will have the Sat. Sketch share tomorrow, but other than that, I guess this week is pretty much a bust!  It seems that happens on the weeks I teach two days.  I always think I will get ahead, but I don't.  Frankly, I just don't think that is in my nature to do it that way!  I have always been the type to push whatever needs to be completed to the last minute.  And I am 51 and don't think I will be changing!  Hee Hee!  See you tomorrow!

Start Each Day with "Whee"!

Hello!  Over the weekend, I realized I had not done Jen's Sketch For You To Try for the month.  The challenge is to participate in the monthly sketch for a whole year to be entered into the grand prize.  I have done every month so far, so I am not stopping now!  When I was in my shack over the weekend cleaning, I found all my Pure Innocence stamps and put them together in one basket.  There were several I had forgotten I had.  When I printed out the sketch, and the panel was slanted, I immediately thought about the girl swinging!  The paper pad I picked had a paper with a wood grain background.  Too perfect to create the image of a tree.  Here is my card.  And the sketch.  Enjoy!

I do want to note a couple of quick changes I made to the sketch.  I added the sentiment panel slightly below the main panel instead of over the main panel.  I just didn't want to cover up too much of the swing.  And, the corner pieces came about because on the top right corner of my card, I used a little bit of Diamond Glaze to add some rhinestones and it gooped out onto the paper, so I had to cover it up with something!  But, I think it adds to the card, so that makes it a "happy mistake"!  I like my card, how about you?

I very happy to say my craft room is now clean!  Well, it is probably not perfect, but that might be because I have a lot of stuff in my little metal building! But, all the paper scraps are in their proper place instead of in a big pile, and you can actually see my desk top!  Wow!  I even vacuumed to get all the scraps of paper off the floor.  Woo Hoo!  I know it won't last long, but for now, this stamper is one happy camper!

Monday and Tuesday I will be working on my class kits, but I hope to get into my very clean room this weekend to make some cards so I have some to show you next week.  Enjoy your weekend!

Deadbeat Designs Class Share!

Hello!  I thought I would get this post done yesterday, sorry about that.  I want to share with you what I made in the Deadbeat Designs class that I took Wed. night at Googly Eyes.  But, before I get to that, I want to say how much fun we had.  Not only was it fun to enjoy the creating process but our table was cutting up and laughing the whole time!  Lynn, who taught the class, is a friend of mine and we go way back from when we both had stores, so it was awesome to get to catch up with her.  All the projects were basically created the same way, in the fact that we stamped an image in Versamark and then added color with chalks with a pom pom applicator, and then continued the same way by stamping the next image and doing the same process.  After each project, we would trade chalk sets, so we got different looks each time.  Here they are!  Enjoy!
 

I am not sure if you can tell the different stamps used on the card, but there is one stamp that has like 5 balloons on it, and that is the one I purchased.  I also got a stamp that says ... what's UP, a must have, right?  The life is short stamp used on the last card, was our freebie to take home!  Love it, as it will go with many stamps I already have!  What I guess was kinda cool, was that every one's card came out differently depending on the set they used, and also depending on how heavy they added the colors.  I actually wish I would have added my colors a little darker, but it's o.k.

I will be back tomorrow for the Saturday sketch share between Debbie, Donna, and I.  I am sorry that you are not getting much from me this week.  But, I promised myself, I would not make one more card, until my room is straightened up.  It looks like a train wreck!  There is stuff everywhere, on every surface!  I don't mind a little chaos, but it is crazy in there.  So, yesterday, I got started, but I am not done yet!  Hopefully, I can finish and get some cards made to show you for next week, because on Monday I will be making card kits for my next class.  See you tomorrow!

Card Class Creations Share!

Hello!  I have been working hard on getting my samples made for my August card class at The Crafty Scrapper.  They are finished, but the bad part is the class is next week, which doesn't give a lot of time for sign-ups.  That sucks, but it is just the way it worked out.  You see, I decided I wanted to do a class with "flowers".  I personally, have lots and lots of flower stamps, but, I needed to use product that she sells, so I had to get her to order a couple of sets for me and that took some time.  We'll see how it goes. You never know.  On a good note, I have three very creative cards to share with you!  Enjoy! 

  

The first card is that Faux Pressed Flower technique that I have done in the past, but I thought this would be a fun one to show, since it is something different.  This technique is one I got from an ex-customer friend, Anne Harada.  She is a friend on FB so I asked if it would be alright if I taught it.  I got an a.o.k.!    Do you love the rolled flower that I made using a My Favorite Things die and some felt?  The second card is a Flower Pot Pocket Card.  I found the instructions for this one on line, but the instructions I found had the pot a lot smaller, so I played around with it and this is the result.  The result is a little larger than an A-2 size, my guess would be an A-6 size so that is still a good size and I will have envelopes to give out in class.  The last card is a Joy Fold Card, which I have taught in a previous class, but I had several coordinating papers that I wanted to use, so I decided to repeat this type of card.  Last time, the card was a vertical layout and this time it is a horizontal version. 

I am teaching the same class on Wed., the 24th at 11 a.m, and Sat., the 27th at 2:30 p.m.  Here are the details:  Say It With Flowers - $25  You will complete three creative cards in class using two stamp sets from Our Craft Lounge. You will learn a Faux Pressed Flower Technique, make a Flower Pot Pocket card, and create a Joy Fold card. Please bring adhesive, small pop dots, glue stick, detailed scissors, and your preferred coloring medium (Copics, colored pencils, etc.) All other supplies provided. 

Tomorrow night is the Deadbeat Designs class I told you about a while ago at Googly Eyes in Irving, Texas.  Mark Jetton of Deadbeat Designs is team teaching with a very good friend of mine, Lynn Lloyd, who has owned stamp stores in both Florida and Texas.  No one knows what the project will be, but I do know it is gonna be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to it.  I will post class pics on Thursday, so be sure to stop back by!
