You Always Pop Into My Thoughts!

Hello!  I snuck in a post last night so if you missed that one, you might scroll down to see it.  For today's card, I inked up one of those adorable Pure Innocence girls.  This one, the Popcorn girl, is one I used in a class, but I don't think I had used it just for fun, so now I have!  And it is a really fun card, let me show you!  Enjoy!
 

I love how this one came out.  I even got to use the film strip die!  Plus, I got to paper piece!  As you know, my favorite thing to do!  What do  you think?

Some People Make The World Special!

Hello!  Last weekend, I told you I had at least two cards ready to show you and all I had to do was write two posts this week.  Well, it seems it is Wed. night and I am just getting around to doing it.  The card for you today is so simple that I debated about whether it would even warrant a post by itself.  But, everything I make goes on this blog.  So, I decided to just sneak this post in tonight with this very simple card.  Let me show you.  Enjoy!

I told you it's simple ... can we say, let the pretty papers guide our way?!  It is from one of those My Minds Eye 6 x 6 pads, and the sentiment and small flower is from Verve. 

I do have one other thing to share with you.  Last week, as you know was my teaching week.  I had a surprise for my class takers.  The month before, Sara, one of my "regulars" suggested that I make some name tags to help with everyone knowing every one's names.  So, I got some plastic holder type tags (made by Avery) at Office Depot.  And I went to decorating.  I printed every one's name on the computer and die cut it out with an Spellbinders Oval.  Then inside each holder, I added a pattern paper with coordinating cardstock.  I did all the embellishing on the outside of the holder.  I made 20 of them and my idea is that at each class they can pick the one they want to wear and add their name to it with some removable tape.  I had so much fun making them and they loved them.  Here is the pic of them attached to a bulletin board ... enjoy!

That is it for my tonight.  I am going to write tomorrow's post right now, as tomorrow morning I am off to meet friend for the scrapbook convention in Arlington.  I'll give you a report of my good finds and stuff on Friday.

I'm So Grateful for You!

Hello! Today I have a card for you and a little how-to.  Let me show you my card first.  Enjoy!

 

 

The die with the sentiment on it comes from a set from My Favorite Things called Framed Greetings.  See it here.  I got this set at least a year ago and I have used the word sentiments several times, but when I first got it, I tried to line up the dot border on the die panel, and I could never get it lined up right.  I knew there was probably a trick, but I never thought about looking it up when I was at the computer.  Well, one night recently, I was poking around Pinterest and saw the solution!  Here is what they did.  They used the die to die cut the shape out of a scrap piece of paper.  Then they stamped the dot border on the piece that would be going on the card.  They positioned the scrap paper template over the stamped piece, lining it up exactly, and taping it down securely.  Next, they slipped the die into the template opening face down and also secured this with tape. Ran it thru a die cut machine and it lines up perfectly!  It worked!  If you need a visual, step by step, see here.  What do you think of my card?

Have a Blooming Good Day!

Hello!  I picked up a couple more of the Pure Innocence stamps recently, so I decided to ink one of them up for you in a really sweet card today!  This stamp is an older one but new to me.  Here is my card ...enjoy!

I love how this one came out.  Super simple but so fun!  Glad to be able to do a little paper piecing, as I haven't done it in a while, and I was having some withdrawals!  LOL!  I do want to say something about these stamps that I can NEVER resist!  I remember when they first came out with them, I was trying to decide which one would be more practical, as I didn't think I would want more than a couple. (I am sure my friend, Eileen, remembers this conversation with me!)  Couple?  I think I own about 30 of these cute little girls!  And they just keep coming out with more that I want!  What a crazy addiction this is!  But, then when I see the adorable cards that they make, and I think ... aww, I am so glad I got that one!  Cute, huh?

A Re-Do!

Hello!  I am writing this on Tuesday, in the middle of prepping for my class.  As you read this, I am at The Crafty Scrapper teaching my first of two days. This week, I have 17 signed up!  Wow!  So, this post will be pretty short and sweet. First, I will show you the card I made last year.  Actually, it was exactly a year ago, as it was part of my May's 2012 class for Father's Day ...enjoy!

 

 

I needed a thinking of you card for a gentleman at church who they have given a possible 6 to 8 weeks to live prognosis to, so instead of coming up with another masculine card, I just ripped the black and cream circles off the one above, and added new panels, shown here ... enjoy!

The cross just makes it, doesn't it?  Thank goodness I was able to find a small scrap that could work!  The shaped die is the one that I got with the Genius Platform system I reviewed in yesterday's post!  The papers are from Graphic 45.

A Birthday Card & A Product Review!

Hello! I got something new and I wanted to share my review of it with you, but I also wanted to have a card made for you too.  So, today you get both!  Let me show you the card first, and then I will give you the details.  Enjoy!

Last Friday, I went to an event at the small scrapbook store out by me.  She had a guy from Lifestyle Crafts there to demo for us and let us try out some of their new products.  I am a very visual person, and like so many of you that share this hobby, if you "wow" me with something you show me, I want it!!  Here is what he showed ...

The plates can be used with any die cut machine, like the Big Shot, Vagabond, Cuttlebug, ETC.  The blue plate you see above is magnetic, and the two rubber type plates are self-healing mats.  The thicker of the two, you use with dies, and the thinner of the two, you use with embossing folders.  One problem I saw in the demo, was that, because the self healing plates are on top, you have to lay your dies cutting side up, which is no problem, if, you are die cutting and then stamping, BUT, there are times when I want to stamp and die cut just that image, so I would need the die cut to be placed down instead of up ... I asked about this ... and, he said, that Lifestlyle Crafts is working on an additional plate that would allow this senario to work, but that it probably would not come out until CHA 2014. He said it would be sold separately as a add on piece. The retail price for the Genius Platform system (shown above) is $49.99, but you get the set of 10 dies (see it in the pic), with it, so that doesn't make it too bad!  I especially love the magnetic base when it comes to making "frames" like the one I did on my card today!  Here is a pic I took of all the dies for the above card.  You can see that I am holding the plate vertical and they don't move ...

I also want to note that I am thinking that the rubber mat will not warp like my big shot plates do, but I am not throwing out my big shot plates, because as I was class prepping last night, I found that a few of my spellbinders dies are a little warped, and they had trouble cutting completely out.  I had to switch back to my big shot plates for them.  But, everything else worked like a charm!!  I am giving the Genius Platform System 5 STARS!   Here is the link to Lifestyle Crafts for more info on it.
