Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.  We did.  Lots of great food, and fun times.  But, with all the food making, I never got back to my shack to make any Thanksgiving cards.  That means I had new stamps for Halloween and Thanksgiving that didn't get inked up ... but they don't go bad, and so I will look to using them next year.  For today's share, Debbie did one more Thanksgiving card (at least you got Thanksgiving from her!).  I of course, did another Christmas card for my stash.  I think I am up to about 40 cards that can be sent.  Not bad, with a few weeks to go.  Let's do today's cards... I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

The Sketch

I think this is a sketch that I did last year when it first came out.  At first glance, I seems ... a little complicated, but when you get all the pieces placed, I really like it. You know I love the ones with more pieces as they are so different from the clean and simple style that I am not crazy about.  And I think it is like that only because they all look alike.  This one is definitely doesn't look like all the rest.  Your thoughts?

Oh, I do have one quick share of a handmade item ... yesterday, my granddaughter wanted to help making something for school ... she wanted to make a girls and boys pass for the restroom for her math class.  This is what we came up with ...

The base is a very heavy chipboard.  We found these two papers in my stash and thought they would be perfect.  The letters are from an alphabet die set.  They measure 2 1/2" x 7".  They are not the size I think I would have gone with, but it is what she wanted.  Easy Peasy! 
This next week is my teaching week and so I am afraid you will not see me until late in the week.  This class is the tag, gift card, gift bag class, and there is going to be lots of die-cutting prep work.  The last of the kids are going home today and I am sure, I will start prepping this afternoon.  I will be back tomorrow with the Sunday words of wisdom.

Happy Snowman!

Hello!  I almost forgot to post this card, as I promised.  Doing some pre-baking for tomorrow's big day, and wasn't thinking about that I needed to write a post.  We'll make this one quick, so I can get back to it.  Today's card is another one that Donna and I worked on together.  I had tons of scraps from the My Minds Eye Winter Wonderland 6 x 6 pads (I had two pads), so we got creative and used a bunch of scraps to make this adorable card ... let me show you ... enjoy!

 

I found enough larger pieces for the big squares behind the circles, some in red dots, some blue dots, etc.  And then we cut the scraps into those flags!  This image in from Stampendous.  It is an adorable set with all kinds of things you can hang between the branches.  We kept it simple and did the ornament string.  Love how it came out.  I hope you do too! 



 

I pulled out a Thanksgiving Owl set I want to make a card for you for tomorrow, but not sure I will get a chance to ...we'll see!  If you don't see me tomorrow, then let just say ... Happy Thanksgiving!  We all have so much to be thankful for.  Count your blessings.

Just Chillin'....

Hello!  Today I have a card for you that my friend, Donna and I made together a couple of weeks ago in one of our card making get togethers.  We combined a sketch idea from me and papers from my stash with stamps and ribbon from her stash to come up with this adorable card.  Let me show you ... enjoy!

 

 

I love how this came out.  The sketch we used had ribbon across the front, but no ribbon we tried looked good, until ... we found this ric, rac!  So perfect!  This is a very easy sketch to recreate!  Maybe you will try this one.  The stamps are from a very old set from Darcie's.

Saturday Sketch Share!

Hello!  This week is one of the circle or square choices.  I went with a square, a small one, 4 1/4 inch and Debbie went with a large circle, almost 5 inch.  So, you have two sizes for one sketch.  Makes it interesting, doesn't it?  Let me show you.  First, my card, then Debbie's, and then, of course, the sketch choices.  Enjoy!

I went with Christmas again, as I am still making extra's to add to the Christmas card stash.  I must find out how Debbie made this very large circle.  I love it!  The sketch is one we both liked.   I also was thinking you could make this same sketch into an A-2 size card.  Sometimes the sketches will work to change the sizes, sometimes they won't.  Do you like this sketch?

Day before yesterday it was 70 degrees, then yesterday is was 37 ... it is that darn Texas weather!

Christmas Blessings!

Hello!  My friend Donna and I have been getting together every week to work on more Christmas cards.  I come up with the card ideas and we do all the stamping, cutting, etc. to make as many finished cards that will allow for the paper used.  I have one of them to show you today.  A couple of weeks ago, for a Saturday sketch share, I made a card with a nativity.   See it here to remind you.  Well, I really wanted to make more than the additional 7 I made, but I could not find any substitute for that swirl blue paper I used on the first layer.  Then, another great friend donated a bunch of papers to me that she purged from her stamp room, and in that group was this really pretty teal and purple swirl paper and I could just see the nativity with it.  I was going to do another sketch, but why mess with a great thing, right?  So, same sketch, but totally different papers used.  Now, it is not traditional colors for Christmas, but Donna and I both liked it anyway (of course, teal and purple are her colors, so she probably isn't the best person to ask!  lol!)  You can be the judge ...enjoy!

So, what do you think?  Do you like the colors for a Christmas card?  And do you like the strip of gold/silver bling?  The sketch card had a sentiment square on the left, but we didn't like it because even though the card base is white, it just looked too stark white.  We also tried embossing in gold, but didn't like it either,  The sentiment showed up a little better on the purple than it did on the teal, so that is what we went with.  The inside sentiment is "Christ the Savior is Born". Not much info to give you in a recipe.  The main thing you need to know is the die is from Taylored Expressions, the bling is from Elizabeth Crafts, and the sentiments from Verve.
