Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  Guess what?  This week was supposed to be my teaching week, but we have been having some crazy Texas weather!  First, it was sleet on Monday but that was okay as I had lots of class kits to prep for and I continued to prep like crazy until Tuesday when I decided to postpone my Wednesday class to next Wednesday because of predictions of snow on Wednesday. I must have slowed down my prepping because while it was sleeting and snowing Wednesday, I continued to prep.  It even took me part of the day on Thursday to finish all the kits.  Yesterday, the metroplex got tons of snow, here not one flake, but I know that in my classes, my ladies come from Fort Worth, Arlington, Dallas, and in between, so it is not just about what it is doing where I am.  Today there is more freezing rain coming through, again not here, but yesterday I made the decision to also cancel today's class.  Unfortunately, I can't move today's class to next Saturday, as they are full with other classes.  So, next week I will be teaching on Wed. and Friday night.  On a good note, I am mostly prepped.  On another good note, it had given me a chance to work on the tea tickets for my church group.  I am almost done with those and will probably do an additional post tomorrow to show you them!

Now let's get to this week's cards.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
I think both Debbie and I really liked this sketch.  And I like both of our cards.  The only issue it the main panel is small, so you really have to pick your image wisely.  What do you think?  Do you like this one?

See you tomorrow!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  Today I am back with the share between Debbie and I.  This was one of those weeks where we had a choice of circle or square.  I went with my usual square.  But, Debbie went out of the box and out of the circle and made another shaped card ... cool!  Let me show you ... my card first, then Debbie's and then the sketch.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
The little lamb I used is kinda a spring image but the sentiment reminds me a little of winter which reminded of our weather right now because here in Texas one day it is a little springtime, even some of the trees are budding, but they are saying we might have snow in a day or two!  Yikes!  When I got this set from Darcies maybe as much as a year ago, I thought of adding fun flock.  I don't know if it shows up, but I did that and I love it!

I am working on starting to prep for next week's class and I am almost working on a project for my church.  Every year our women's fellowship has a tea with food, a program, and a tea exchange.  For the past three years, I have made the tea tickets.  Basically, I have just printed the info on about a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch cardstock and either die cut or stamped and colored a small tea cup at the top.  Well, I thought about doing something different.  So, I asked the lady that owns the little scrapbook store out by me about a teacup from a circuit cartridge that she could make me a bunch of, 100 to be exact!  My original thinking was a teacup on colored paper with the info on top.  Simple.  Well, you know how creative ideas are ... rarely do you keep it that simple.  Yes, it has evolved. And I am happy that I have a sample that is awesome, even though now there are a lot more steps!   But, that is all you are going to get about it right now.  You will have to wait and see them finished and that should happen by Thursday or Friday of next week.
See you tomorrow for the words of wisdom post!

Thank you for Your Service!

Hello!  Donna and I got together yesterday to make cards to add to the care packages we will be sending to our troops next Monday night.  We went to our Pinterest boards for ideas and didn't take too long deciding on what to do.  However, we had to make a few adjustments along the way, as the first idea was a little busy, so we took away a few pieces and it was perfect.  Here is our card ... enjoy!

We first had 5 or 6 of the stars and hearts, but overlapping them, you couldn't even see that they were stars, so we simplified it!  And don't you love that saying?  We are humbled, that is for sure and we thank all who serve for protecting our freedom!  We love how it came out. I hope you do too!

I'll be back tomorrow for the Saturday share!  (Where did the week go?!)

Our Love Just Keeps On Trucking!

Hello!  I am back today with the card I made for my hubby for Valentine's Day.  Back at the end of December at the store's end of the year sale, I bought the accordion die from Elizabeth Crafts.  I decided to use it for his card and combine it with a stamp and die set (Taylored Expressions) I got last year at one of the shows.  I had been saving the stamp set for some occasion for him, and this one was perfect.  Here is a couple of photos of his card ...enjoy!

The front view ...

And when it is fully opened ...

I did the sentiment on the computer.  I love how it came out!  Up and down the hill... we keep on trucking!  It had literal meaning for me, but he probably didn't clue in on that part!  LOL!

I want to get to my room and stamp up some of the stamps that I got at the shows in January that I haven't even touched.  We'll see!  If I do, I am sure you will be seeing me sooner than later!

February Class Share!

Hello!  I had a hard time trying to decide what I wanted to teach this month.  I guess part of me was thinking of last month's class being such a success, that this one would be not as good.  I had to let that go and just pick something cool to make and I think I succeeded.  The store got in a really cool die called a Flip Flop Die so I decided to do a trio of cards using the one die and then I saw a fun tutorial on making a spinning yo-yo card and so I combined this with a handmade four leaf clover.  I think it will be a fun class.  Here are my cards each with multiple views ... enjoy!

First up is card number 1 of the trio ...

Pull the tab on the right side and the front flip flops up to reveal ...

And the inside ...

Card number 2 of the trio ...

This time the flip flop is on the inside of the card, pull the tab ...

And a second sentiment appears ...

And the third card of the trio ...

This one has a flip flop on the outside, but it also has a pull tab with a message...

Flip flop ...

And the inside...

And now the four leaf clover card ...

 Pull the string ...
 And it spins!!

 And the inside ...

Here are the class details if you are interested in coming.  Or if you don't live local, you know I can always send you a kit.  Last month I sent kits to Tennessee and Florida!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  Well, this week did not go as planned.  I had hopes to get my class card samples done by Wednesday and then work on Valentine's to send.  Early in the week, I was in a major non creative mojo slump ... I couldn't decide what to do and really, all that does is just put pressure on me when I know that my week is not going as planned.  I started to get my creative mojo back about Wednesday and so I did finish my class cards!  Yipee!  But, the Valentine's?  Well, not so much!  Thank goodness for the Saturday shares because you have seen quite a number of Valentine's on here.  And today I have one more, and yes, so does Debbie!  So, on to today's share ... I will show you mine, Debbie's and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch
I have done this sketch before and I really like it.  It is definitely a go-to sketch.  I love how both cards turned out.  Except I wish I would have picked some papers with more gray instead of brown, but you see I was going to stamp a squirrel, hence the brown.  I had my card mostly done when I saw the beaver sentiment ... Have a dam happy Valentine's Day ... so fun, had to change and go with the beaver!  Cute, huh?  (By the way, the beaver is from Darcies and the sentiment is from Inky Antics).

I will be doing my class card share tomorrow and also the words of wisdom post.  Oh, and I have a Valentine card I made for the hubby to share, but I might wait until Monday for that one.  I am just keeping this Valentine thing going, aren't I?  Speaking of that ... Happy Valentine's Day!

An Explosion of Explosion Boxes!

Hello!  As you know my last class was a huge hit!  I made 32 kits with 19 ladies in two classes and the rest were sold as kits for them to complete at home.  That is a big wow!  Usually after a class, I am done with that one and I am on to the next project.  But, not this time, as you might remember me mentioning that before I had sent my sample box off to the store, I showed it to three ladies at my church, who promptly asked if I would made some for them!  Of course, I said sure.  What was I thinking, really?  I mean making the whole box is different than just cutting the pieces.  It takes tons of adhesive and time!  In fact, it took me all last week to make these 7 boxes and I went through a whole roll of ATG tape and half of a roll of 1/8" scor-tape!  I took them to church yesterday morning and I am happy to report that the three ladies were all happy with the boxes ... thank goodness!  Yes, they did pay me.  I probably could have charged them more, but that is okay.  All their boxes were made out of different papers which allowed me to be a little creative instead of just making them all the same.  I did one major change than the class kits and I will show you that, but first, let me show you the explosion group photo!  Enjoy!

Below is the inside of the class kit one ... do you see the closed pocket with the twine and the brad?  Well, I really love the look of this, but I thought this would make me too crazy to do this twine/brad embellishment on every one of them!  I mean we are talking 7 boxes times 4 for each one, that is 28?!  I don't think so!  You can see that I just changed it to two more open pockets.  I have a photo below for each box so that you can see them better ... enjoy!

Okay, before I show you the last one, I want to tell you that one of the ladies wanted a boy one for her grandson.  Let me tell you, it is not that easy to find Valentine boy paper.  I had one sheet that I thought could work and below is a piece of it ...

So, I combined this one paper with some others to make the box ...

And here is a close-up of the top ...

This blog has always been my way of documenting all of my handmade items.  So, thanks for letting me share all the boxes with you!  I hope you liked them!

My next project is my next class samples , but after such a successful one, I am having a hard time figuring out what I want to make.  I am off to my room to hopefully, make that happen!  I also hope to get time to make just a couple of Valentine cards to send.  So, hopefully, you will see some results from me in a couple of days!

Hello!  I am in the middle of trying to figure out what my next class is going to be and today's quote came up on my wall, and I thought that it would be perfect for today since Valentine's Day is just a week away ... enjoy!

Pretty, cool, huh?  I thought so!  Good for a Sunday!

Saturday Sketch Share!

Hello!  I know you haven't seen me and that is because pretty much every free time I have had has been spent on making explosion boxes for some ladies at church .... what was I thinking when I said "sure, I can make them for you, no problem"!  I am very close to finishing all of them and I will show you when I am done, but for today, we have the Saturday share between Debbie and I.  We both went with a Valentine's theme again, which is great since you have seen much from me!  I will show you my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

My Card

Debbie's Card

The Sketch

I think we both liked this sketch.  And I love how Debbie's hearts worked so well in place of the circles in the sketch.  The thing I didn't like about mine had more to do with how I colored it ... I wish I would have made her dress a different color than yellow, but the card was almost done and I didn't want to redo it.  Overall, I think it gives you two great valentine card ideas!

See you tomorrow!
