Friends in My Garden!

Hello!  Getting the class card samples done, makes me feel so less stressed.  I still have to finish the design team cards and project but at least I can feel like I got to take some off my list.  The card I am showing today also was a mark off my list.  A good friend's birthday was the same week that I taught and so, I didn't get to her card, but I promised it was coming.  It actually got sent last week, just a week late, not too bad.  I knew I hadn't shared it with you yet and so I want to do that today.  It is a little different from my normal style.  I keep buying all those fancy, decorative labels dies from Spellbinders because I see all those awesome cards that people create with them.  Especially how they make the card base from the die. Let me show you my card, I then I will give you more details, instructions and links for this card.  Enjoy!



In the past, I have tried this tutorial, but I use such heavy cardstock that doubling it just will not go through my Big Shot.  In fact, I was trying to do this very thing, when I broke my last Big Shot!  Then, a couple of weeks ago, I found a different idea on this blog.  (Scroll down to card three and the instructions are below).  On this one, they used Scrapbook Adhesive's Crafty Power Tape, which I do not own, but will be on the look out for, so that I can check it out.  I decided to try their idea with scor-tape.  It worked!  (But, still this other adhesive might be thinner?) So, basically, you put the tape on the cardstock and put the top of the die right over it, so that when you run it through, you have the frame die cut out with adhesive on it.  She also added a score line across the top of the card.  Then when you add the second die cut to match and they adhere together, the score on the back panel allows it to swing open.  Here is the photo of the back view and the inside.

Sometimes it is hard to explain things, so go check out the link, as she has pictures, and try it out for yourself!  I need to make one similar to this real soon, so I don't forget how I did it!  And look for that different adhesive.  Hope you enjoyed this card.  Different for me, but oh, so pretty!

February Class Share!

Hello!  I think I told you last week that I had finished the first card for my February class but that I didn't know what I wanted to do for the second card.  I had so much trouble and I don't even know why.  The store got in six different dies, three from Art Gone Wild and three from Inky Antics.  Each retail for around $20, so I decided it would be best to spread them out and teach one a month.  Yes, with me having a store in the past, makes me think of these things!  I also had planned to use the cupcake die set from Impression Obsession, but first, I couldn't decide which of the six dies to use and then I felt I needed more than just the cupcake die for me to feel good about the card.  So, I simply used some stamps from the companies they sell, and figure they can always order them if they get requests.  The first card is definitely the "wow" card!  This one I took to the store last Friday just to show and they loved it and wanted me to leave it.  Which was fine, but that meant, my photos had to be taken there at the store instead of home with better lighting.  The two cards are really the class, but I threw in a third project ... for fun, and also because they always have at least three items to make.  The third project is a super, simple post it note holder!  Loved it and couldn't resist adding it to the class!  Here is my Feb. class ... enjoy!

Easy Peasy Post-It Note Holder

Below is my class description if you are interested in coming or would like a class kit. ...

Pop-Up and Pop-Out!  Wed. Feb. 26th 11:00 a.m. and Sat. March 1st 2:30 p.m.  $25
The first card you will be creating is a Pop-up Box Card.  Easy to make but will "wow" you.  It does fold flat for mailing and you will be creating an envelope in class for it to fit in.  The store got in 6 special dies that create different types of pop-outs and starting this month, you will be using one of the six to make a fun card.  This time we are using Art Gone Wild's Twisting Explosion Pop-Out die.  Favorite stamp companies are present in both cards including My Favorite Things, Impression Obsession, and Inky Antics.  Then, the last project is a simple but useful must have.  You will be creating a post-it note holder. This idea was just too simple not to share with you!   Please bring adhesive to include score tape, pop-up dots, detailed scissors, and your preferred coloring medium.  All other supplies provided, including a post it note and a pen for your holder.  (Copics used: card 1: E00, E35, V15, YG13/YG17. card 2: W1, W2, B00, R11, RV32, these are listed only for those that have asked for them).

Saturday's Sketch Share ... A Double Dose!

One note, on Debbie's Valentine card, the back panel is a very hot pink, instead of the fuchsia it came out as.  I don't know why certain colors don't show up when I scan cards!  But, pink or fuchsia, this card is too cute!  Which is your favorite?

Pretty Banner Card!

Hello!  I got my new packet of papers and stuff to create some more cards for The Crafty Scrapper's design team blog.  I was happy to see some paper in "my colors"!  There is just something that happens to the creative flow when you are working with colors you like!  From this packet, I will be creating five cards, two for Feb., two for March, and one for April.  And all the cards need to be done by Feb. 15th, but somehow I got scheduled for a post on their blog for TODAY!  So, early in the week, I got going with my new stuff and made this card!  The post that I did for their blog is below.  I don't think they made any changes this time ...woo hoo!  The card is a little thicker than my normal style, as I used some Maya Road chipboard banner pieces ... and buttons, but it is not so thick that I don't think you couldn't send, just have to add a little extra postage.  It was a really fun card to make ... enjoy!

Hello, it's Tina here today to share with you another card creation with wonderful products from The Crafty Scrapper! 

 

Lately, I have been seeing all kinds of ideas with banners on cards.  I knew I wanted to join in and so I created this fun and festive banner for today's card.  I combined Maya Road's banner chipboard pieces, which I inked with distress ink, with beautiful papers from Authentique's Flourish line, and small dies from My Favorite Things.  And of course, a stamped sentiment completes the card.  I love how it came out and I hope you do too!
