Patriotic Card #1!

Donna and I are working on making patriotic cards for the president of our chapter of Bluebonnet Mothers to try to sell at their national convention this summer.  The money made will go toward mailing more care packages to our troops.  We are making four cards of each design and we have three designs so far. (12 cards ready!) I thought with the 4th of July tomorrow, this week, would be the perfect time to share the cards.  So, I have one for you today, tomorrow, and Friday.  Then on Saturday, the share is patriotic too!  Let's do the first one... enjoy!

 

 

I picked up this unmounted tree stamp at one of the conventions.  I tried stamping it in black but that didn't work, it made the flag black, so blue it is.  It is a pretty big stamp, and so the layout for the card had to be simple.  I don't know who makes the stamp, nor do I have details on the designer paper, as it was just a scrap from our stash.

I Flip For You!

Hello!  One of the cards I taught in the May class was a Graduation card.  The way the card is folded it so resembles a grad hat.  Today, I am using that same construction but changing it to just a fun, any occasion card.  Let me show you ... enjoy!

Isn't it fun how you can change the colors, the papers, the theme .... and it becomes such a different card?  I do want to share the pattern of how this card works.  It is super simple.  The base card is 4 1/4" x 9 3/4".  Below is a picture of it showing where to score and where to cut.  Once you do that, just hold it from the back and push the sides in to form the card.  I used a magnet to hold it shut.  And on both cards, I created a pocket to hold either a gift card, money or in the case of the flip, flop card, a sentiment card.  I hadn't plan on adding the pocket for the flip, flop card until I realized that if I didn't, you would see my inside writing.  And I just don't like it when that happens.

I have one more card to show you.  I actually sent the card above after receiving an adorable flip, flop card in the mail from a friend.  Betty takes my classes so that is why I thought it would be fun to change the grad card into a flip, flop card.  And I got to use my flip, flop paper that has been in my stash for months!  Here is her card.  Notice the glitter and the tiny flowers on the flip, flops and of course, the sentiment!  Enjoy!

Two for Poppies!



Hello!  I have been promising to show you two cards for two weeks.  Well, today is the day and I am showing you both cards in this one post!  Both cards use the same set of papers, appropriately called "Poppies".  One card is using the second die in the Spellbinders set that I used a couple of weeks ago and the second card is the set from Rubbernecker which I have used before.  I love these poppy cards, and I hope you will too!  Let me show you ... enjoy!

 



I do want to comment on the first one, which uses the die.  I have gotten a couple of questions about this set of dies.  Here is a picture of the set, so you know what to look for.  Both cards used sentiments from the Rubbernecker poppies sets.  The stamped poppies on the second card were already stamped in a stash of miscellaneous pieces on my desk.  When I got the Poppies set of papers, I pulled this one out.  Loved out it matched so well with the papers.  Which one is your favorite?

Ink - Memento Black, (card #2 since stamped image is from my stash, I am not positive, but I think I used Tombow Pens directly on the rubber and then spritzed with water before stamping)

Other - Ribbon by May Arts, Pearls by Queen & Co.

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back with the Saturday share.  Do you know the best thing about the Saturday share?  Well, for sure, you can always count on it.  You know that even if I don't post anything throughout the week, you can get some inspiration from my blog on Saturday!  And, that is the case this week!  I had two cards ready to show you, but since it was my class prepping and teaching week, I never got the posts ready for you.  Now, I will have something for you next week!  Woo Hoo!  Let's do the share ... What do you think about this sketch?  I think it was a fun one to work with.  As you can see, I once again had to do the "out of the box" technique to get my daisy girl to fit!  But it works!

As you can see, it was another week of choices between the square and the round.  And as we have done in the last several months, I went with the small square of 4 1/4" and Debbie went with the round.  Mainly I picked the square so that my stamped image would fit, but as you see, it almost didn't fit and I had to do a little bit of the "out of the box" technique to make it work.  Debbie said that she used Distress paints in the background of her card.  I love how both came out!  Which one do you like best?

Birthday Wishes!

Hello!  There were a few items that were a must to look for at the scrapbook convention that I went to a few weeks ago.  One of the items was a set of Spellbinders flower dies, as I had seen a couple of cute cards made with them.  One of the cards I pinned, go here to see it.  I usually don't do flowers that add to much thickness to the card, but I couldn't resist trying this one out.  Here is my card ... enjoy!

 

 

 

I cut out three and put a glue dot to hold them together and really scrunched them up.  I then cut the die again in the green and cut a little stem part for the one flower.  I like how this came out.  Scrunched flowers and all!  What do you think?

For The Love Birds!

Hello!  I had this card ready for you yesterday, but I was thinking I wouldn't have time to get a post written before it was time for me to leave yesterday, and I was right.  I left early yesterday to drive to Fort Worth to have lunch and spend the day with two friends, one I have known since middle school and the other since high school.  Oh, just about 40 years!  One friend lives in Argyle, up by Denton and we get together every couple of months, but the big treat was my friend who lives in St. Louis, that I haven't seen in about 10 years!  It was a great day!  I loved every minute of it.  But, back to why you're here ... to see my creation for the day!  Donna, my other "bestie friend", son, who is my Godson, recently got married and so I made this card to send to him and his new wife.  In my last class, we made a wedding card.  See it here in this post.  My card is similar to that one, but instead of a cake, I added a birdcage and love birds ... let me show you ...enjoy!

 

And then after you flip it, instead of the wedding sentiment, I added a pocket for their gift card!

 

 

On the right side, I made the fold-over the same and added a "Congratulations" stamp and a place for me to sign it.

I think they will like it, how about you?
