God Bless America!

Happy Memorial Day!  Today we honor all veterans and especially those who have died serving our country.  I think it is day that we show extra patriotic pride for the veterans and also for those who are serving our country right now.  It makes me proud to be an American.  I decided I should make a card to show it.  Here is my patriotic card for the day ... enjoy!

 

What do you think?  I used a Mojo Monday sketch, but one that Debbie and I haven't gotten to yet.  See it here.  It is number 250 and Saturday, we will be doing 231.  So, you will see this one again in a few months, but for today I thought it was perfect for a very "starry" card!  God Bless America!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another share, and another sketch with a choice of circle or square.  Both Debbie and I stuck to what we have been doing the last several months, me with a square but a small one (4 1/4" square), and Debbie with a circle one.  Both cards are great!  The sketches, as you will see below, showed placement of flowers.  I am usually one to follow the sketch down to a T, but this time, I substituted those flowers for the theme of my card.  Let me show you.  First mine, and then Debbie's and then the sketch choices.  Enjoy!

Both cards are so fun ... love all the great colors!  And of course, I love my puny sentiments ... spintastic ...silly, but so fun!   I do want to talk about one more thing.  In the past, when I have made circle cards, I make them in two pieces and adhere them together.  In other words, if I had made Debbie's circle card, I would have cut two fancy circles out and scored the back one at the top to adhere to the front one.  Debbie did hers differently and I took a picture of the inside so you could see ...

 

 

The decorative one is only on the front and she made a two part circle card by creating a scored card and then laying her die cut slightly above the fold so it would stay together when the die cut is removed.  I love this idea and it gives me an idea when I am trying to die cut those decorative dies ...hmmm.... will have to play around with this idea!  Thanks Debbie!

Today I am off "parading" with the Blue Star Mothers in the Polka Festival parade in Ennis.  Remember soldiers past and present this Memorial Day weekend.  Have a great one!

Sunshine to Your Day!

Hello!  Today's card has been ready to show you for a while and in fact, I had planned on showing it to you on Wed.  ...or Thursday, but neither day did I get the post written.  So, better late than never ... it is a get well card for the group of cards I am making for the lady at church.  It is a very simple design.  I know you will love it ... here it is!  Enjoy!


 

 

That bottom strip is a more orange color in real life.  I scan my cards on my printer and so sometimes the colors come out different.  I know camera taking pictures are the preferred blogging method, but most of the time, I scan instead.  It is just easier.  I go with the camera for when I have 3-D like cards, like my class cards.  Anyway, this sketch is one I have used before, simple but nice!  What do you think?

You Rock!

Hello!  My card for today is one that I did not design but I did help make, as my friend Donna and I made 20 of these cards to add to boxes that are being sent to our troops.  You might remember, as I have mentioned it before, that my friend Donna is a member of Blue Star Mothers of America, the Bluebonnet Chapter 13.  This group of ladies have children who are serving or have served in any of the branches of the Armed Forces.  They meet monthly to pray and support each other and then quarterly they put together care packages to send overseas.  Last night was one of those package packing nights and I was able to go with Donna.  Donna's son is my Godson and he is in the Marines, but not currently deployed.  Last year, I participated in three of the parades they walk in to honor the military.  So, last night, they made me an associate member.  It does make me proud to do something to support our troops.  The last garage sale that The Crafty Scrapper had, they collected items for the care packages, as a entry fee into the first sale night, so combined with the multiple boxes from this and the boxes the other ladies brought, we had so much so stuff, we were able to send two boxes to each soldier on our list.  The card this time we thought would be fun to do something a little different than the normal red, white, and blue.  Let me show you the card ... enjoy!

I have to show you the inside because when Donna showed me her idea (came from Pinterest, see it here), I thought "oh, how fun it would be to add some pop rocks on the inside of the card".  Donna was able to find them and we added them, so here is the inside.  This card already had everyone's signatures when I took the picture ...

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with the share between Debbie and I.  I also am showing you my birthday card I got from Donna.  She did a very cool technique and so be sure to read all the way to the end so you can see that card too!  First up is the share.  I will show you my card, Debbie's card and the sketch we both used.  Enjoy!

I do want to note that the ric rac ribbon on Debbie's card was actually a hot pink color.  Why my scanner did not pick that  up since the rest of the card is true to color, I do not know.  In the card, Debbie mentioned that her son is getting married today.  So Congratulations for that!  I wasn't sure about this sketch at first, but after doing it, I really do like it.  I got that alligator stamp at the stamp convention back in January but just now getting around to inking it up!  I added a little birdie from a clear set of Inky Antics.  I thought it needed a little something extra!  What do you think?  Now, on to the card that Donna made me.  I know you are going to love it like I do!  Enjoy!

 

So pretty!  She stamped the image with a Colorbox white stamp pad and let it dry.  Then she colored on top with her Prismacolor pencils.  Love the effect, don't you?

Happy Birthday!

Hello!  I do have a card to show you today.  There is still one lady at church that asked me to make her a set of cards and so periodically when I have time and in a creative mood, I try to make cards for her.  My thinking is that I would like to get a group of cards made so that she could pick the ones she likes, instead of just giving her a set.  So, this one is really all about the papers and embellishments and the one sentiment could be anything, but I made it a birthday card.  I "cased" this card from one I saw on pinterest.  See it here.  Here is my take ...enjoy!

 

 

 

There is a lot going on with lots of layers, and embellishments ... my favorite kind of card!  I love how I took a small circle die, this one from My Favorite Things, and made it a corner embellishment.  Of course, I can't take credit, since this is part of what I "cased", but I still love it!  I love that there are such awesome designers out there for all of us to get great ideas from!  Do you like how it turned out?
