Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back with this week's sketch share between Debbie and I.  As you know, we each make a card, using the same sketch.  Let's get to it.  I will show you mine first, and then Debbie's, and the sketch after that.  Enjoy!

The Sketch
I love how both turned out, don't you?  What a fun sketch!  I know you didn't see me much this week, because of my "teaching gig" and next week the granddaughter will be here, but I will try to get a few cards made to show you.  Have a good weekend, and try to stay in the cool!

A Flower For You!

I just wanted to pop in and say "hello"!  Unfortunately, I don't have a card made to show you today.  The weeks where I teach two classes, like I am doing this week, does not give me enough "me" time and creative time to make cards for the blog.  The only card I did make this week, that was not for the class, was my challenge card that I show you on Saturday's.  So, tune in tomorrow for that!  My title of today's post said "A flower for you" and that is what I have for you today.  It has been so hot here, as I think that they said it's been twenty something days in a roll that we have been over 100 degrees.  And, so everything around here looks either dead or dying, even though we are still watering.  Well, this morning, I noticed one new flower on this rose of sharon plant we have and that is my share today ... enjoy!

Pretty, huh?  See you tomorrow!

Happy Stamping!

Good Things Come To Those Who Bait! #2

Hello!  This is my class week, and yesterday and today, I have been working on my class kits for Wed. and Sat.'s classes.  It seems summer is upon us, as the sign-ups this time are low.  At least, that is my reasoning!  I am making four extra kits for any sign-ups that might come this week.  So, if you want to either come to tomorrow or Saturday's class or get one of the kits (complete instructions included), just give me a holler!  For today, I do have a card that I made a week or so ago that I haven't shown you.  For the title, you might know I used the Flopsey Fishing set again, but as you know, changing the layout and papers, totally changes the look of a card even when you use the exact same set of stamps.  If you want a reminder to the first card, you can see it here.  Let me show you the new one!  Enjoy!

I love how this one came out!  The papers I used is all from one 6 x 6 pad, making it so easy.  I knew I wanted to add some kind of stripe pattern to the card, so I could add stripes to his hat!  Fun ... fun ... fun!

Recipe:

Paper - My Minds Eye Lime Twist Out of the Blue 6 x 6 pad, Cardstock White, Green
Stamps - My Favorite Things Flopsey Fishing"
Ink - Versafine Black, Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol
Tools - Classic Scalloped Rectangle, Classic Circle Nestibilities
Other - Rhinestones

I am off to my shack to work on more class kits.  Hopefully, I will get back to stamping just for fun the last part of the week and can post something for you then!

Happy Stamping!
Tina

P.S.  Remember the two honey pop cards I made
here and here?  I entered both in a contest with Inky Antics and this week they are asking for people to vote for their favorites here.  What do I say now?  Thanks!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with two looks for one sketch. Every four sketches, we have a choice to do a round card or a square card.  And you know me, I almost always go for the round choice, as square cards really "are" a challenge to me.  You know maybe next month, I should go with the square so that it is a challenge for me ... we'll see!  But, back to today's sketch, I love how my circle one came out.  And Debbie's too!  Let me show you both and then the sketch.  Enjoy!

The Sketch
I think both cards are great.  I do want to mention that the kraft panel in the middle of my card is a new stamp that I got at the stamp convention, another one of the stamps from Rubbernecker.  I love it embossed in white on the kraft, don't you?

Have a good weekend!  Try to stay "cool", as much as possible!  See you next week!

Celebrate Mojo 200!

Hello!  This is my second post of the day, so be sure to scroll down to see my honey pop turtle card!  I so wanted to participate in Mojo Monday's sketch challenge for this week because they are doing a little happy dance about it being their 200th sketch.  And since, I often refer to their older sketches, as well as on Saturdays, their 2010 sketches are the ones used for Saturday's sketch challenges, I really thought it would be appropriate if I got in on their celebration!  Both the stamps and the papers, you have seen before.  But, that doesn't make me love the card any less.  I just love how it came out!  I hope you do too.  Enjoy!

A Turtally Awesome Day!

Hello!  I know I am late posting today.  And, on top of that, I don't have my usual forgotten stamp Friday card.  But, what I do have is two posts with two different creations for two different challenges. This week, I have been out in my "shack" more in the mornings instead of during the day.  It is just so HOT!  I do have an a/c unit in my shack but when it is over 100 degrees outside, well, I just don't want to even go.  I guess it is affecting my creative juices.  You think?  Anyway, the last two mornings I have been working on another honey pop card because Inky Antics summer challenge using any of the honeypops sets ends tomorrow.  I had one more set that I got at the scrapbook convention that I had not inked up yet.  It is the turtle set and it is sooo cute.  Let me show you how my card came out!  Enjoy!

The Inside

Close-Up of Sentiment
If you need instructions, you can refer to my post here.  I love making these cards.  And I love the challenge of creating the insides. I like to create the pop-up scene, and also, pull some of the papers that I used on the front of the card, to the inside creation.  The green panel with the flowers I decided would work perfect as grass, especially when I used my grass die!  I love the sketch I used on the front too!  It is actually an old mojo sketch from 2009, no. 74.  I need to remember this one, as it is perfect for when you have a square image.  Do you like my turtally awesome card?

Recipe:

Paper - Echo Park  Life is Good Line, Cardstock White, Dark Brown
Stamps - Inky Antics Turtle Honey Pop
Ink - Versafine Black, Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol
Tools - Labels 13 Nestibilities (for sentiment panels), Grass die-namics by My Favorite Things
Other - Ribbon by unknown, Pearls by Forever in Time

I will have one more post for you today.  Look for it.  And, then tomorrow, I will be back with another Saturday sketch share!

Happy Stamping!

Gentle as a Butterfly!

Hello!  Last Saturday, I attended the stamp convention and can honestly say most of my money was spent at the Rubbernecker booth,  I think it's pretty funny since this is a company that I carried in my store forever ago, but I had thought their images were pretty outdated ... well, I was wrong,  They had so many new stamps and their samples were awesome.  I wasn't the only one who liked their stamps as their booth was packed and the line to check out was about a 20 minute wait so you know it was long!  But so worth it!  A few of the stamps I got were because of a card sample they had made.  The card I created today is one of those.  Their sample boards were high above the stamp pegs so pictures were a little hard to take, but I did get a pic on my camera phone of the card that "sold" me.  Yesterday, when I was making my card, I did not have the pic in front of me, so my card is similar, but a little different.  Which is perfectly fine, but now looking at the pic, I might like to do another, more like theirs!  Before I show you my card, I need to warn you ... it is a totally stamped card, with no scrapbook paper added!  Try not to fall out of your chair!  Here is my card.  (And, also the pic of their sample card).  Enjoy!

Truthfully, I did remember that their butterfly was the same color as the cardstock, but I tried it that way, and it just looked dull.  Of course, they used a different blue than I did.  I couldn't remember what oval color layer they did.  I see it is a kind of tan.  I love how on mine I used, a cream layer, but then made the sentiment panel in white.  Wow, that combination really pops!  Who would have thought?  I love how it came out, what do you think?

Recipe:

Paper - Cardstock Teal, Dark Brown, Cream, White
Stamps - Rubbernecker (both the sentiment and the butterflies are from one set called Butterflies are Free set)
Ink - Versafine Vintage Sepia (I did emboss this ink with JudiKins clear embossing powder for some interest)
Tools - Petite Ovals Nestibilities
Other - Tiny Rhinestones from Hero Arts, Pearls from Queen & Co.

Happy Stamping!

Camo + Cricut Die = One Cute Baby Card!

Hello!  My stepdaughter is giving a shower for a friend this coming weekend and she asked me to make a card for her.  She told me the girl likes pink camo.  So I have been on the hunt for pink camo for a while!  I put requests out to friends to find me pink camo fabric or paper.  It was much harder to find that I thought it would be.  One friend suggested digital, but I didn't have much luck there either.  The only thing I did find was fabric with hot pink tones with large peace signs all over it and I got it a Wal-mart!   Even though the pinks were brighter shades than I was thinking, I went with it.  And, the peace signs were never an issue because there was enough of the camo print between them to work.  I originally was thinking I would color copy the fabric so I would have cardstock to work with, but I just couldn't get the coloring right when I copied.  So, in the end, I went with the actual fabric ... keeping my fingers crossed that it dosen't ravel!  The scrapbook store close by, called Country Scents, was kind enough to cut out a baby carriage for me from their Cricut which I adhered my hot pink fabric to.  And from there, I found some paper that I thought would brighten up the card, combining it with a die cut layer, ribbon and rhinestones.  Here is my completed card.  Enjoy!

What do you think?  I rather like how it came out.  But, I did have a little trouble getting to the end.  It all started to come together once I added the panel behind the baby carriage.  See?  Those Spellbinders dies are ALL must haves!  Hee Hee!  On the right, you can see the inside.  I couldn't resist using another Spellbinders die, in this case the heart, to give the inside a little accent!

Recipe:

Paper - Floral from Best Creation Inc., Cardstock White, two colors of Pink, Black
Stamps - It's a Girl by Hero Arts, Congratulations by Stampendous
Ink - Versafine Black
Tools - Cricut Baby Carriage (I don't know what cartidge it came from, but I can find out if you are interested, just email me.), Labels 8, Classic Heart, Classic Scalloped Circle, Classic Circle Nestibilities, Open Scalloped Border Die-namics by My Favorite Things
Other - Sheer Ribbon by unknown, Rhinestones by Queen & Co.

Last Saturday I attended the stamp convention in Grapevine.  I so enjoyed seeing all the people I haven't seen in a while and I got some new stamps too!  I hope to be back in a day or two with some new stamp creations for you.

Happy Stamping!

The Butterfly Counts Moments!

Hello!  When I started today's card, I wasn't planning for it to be perfect for the Forgotten Stamp Friday post, but as it evolved and I ended up using uninked stamps that I have had for a long time, I decided to wait until today to show you my creation!  Originally, I had seen a card on one of the blogs where they made a card size frame with one of the Martha Stewart Around the Page sets and then they added pattern paper to the top, so the punched part peeked out all the way around the card.  One of the Spellbinders sets that I got at the scrapbook convention, I thought looked really large, so I was thinking it would work the same way.  Well, I soon found out it was not as large as I thought it was.  But, still pretty, just a different look.  Picking out the butterfly paper led me to some uninked, unmounted rubber sets of butterflies from Stamp Camp.  Perfect!  Let's get to the card ... enjoy!

I got some of that crinkled seam binding at the scrapbook show and I spent so much time trying to create a pretty bow as I see on so many cards.  Every one I tried was uggglyyy and I finally gave up!  I need a tutorial.  Suggestions anyone?  I decided to add the twine instead.  And at the last minute I added the rhinestones swirls.  Love that addition!  O.k. funny thing about this card, you know how I said the stamps are from Stamp Camp (which I know have never been inked because the unmounted sheets had not ever been cut apart!), well the owner, Mary Kay is a Facebook friend and I saw that her birthday is July 17th and I be seeing her at the stamp convention on the 16th!  Yes, you guessed it ... I think I will give her this card for her birthday.  I hope she likes it!  I do, don't you?

Recipe:

Paper - My Minds Eye Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky 6 x 6 pad, Cardstock Mauve, Mint Green
Stamps - Butterfly Set and Butterfly Sentiments from Stamp Camp
Ink - Versafine Black for sentiment, Versafine Spanish Moss for butterfly
Tools - Lattice Rectangles, Lacey Circles, Classic Circles Nestibilities
Other - Pearls by Queen & Co., Rhinestones by unknown, Twine by The Twinery

I will be back tomorrow with Saturday's Sketch Share.  See you then!

You Make My Heart Sing!

Hello!  Where does my mornings go?  My intention this morning was to get this card posted early, well it's almost noon, so, I guess early is not happening.  But, at least I do have a card for you.  I decided I should get my Sketch For You To Try done which is the challenge where I do a sketch a month to get in on the  prize at the end of the year.  I have completed every month so far!  The sketch this month, which I will show you, had three circles in the left hand corner.  My first thought was the set of three music note dies I recently purchased.  I paired them with one of the My Favorite Things sets where the girl Joline is holding an ipod and the coordinating stamps in the set are about music.  Perfect, plus I think I have only stamped her a couple of times!  Here is my card.  And the sketch.  Enjoy!

Wow, did you see the paper piecing I did on the little girl?  That was a little crazy.  The pieces were very tiny.  I do want to note that I ran the pattern background paper through an embossing folder with music notes on it.  I am not sure you can see it in the pic.  Maybe if you click on it, you can see it in the close-up view!  I very rarely use Vellum anymore but it was a perfect solution for this card because I knew I wanted to add the sentiment on the horizontal strip but I didn't want it to cover up the main image.  I couldn't decide how to attach the vellum so that the tape wouldn't show and then I got the idea to just wrap the edges around the large panel!  Good idea, huh?  I rather like how the card came out.  What do you think?

Recipe:

Paper - My Minds Eye Stella & Rose Mabel 6 x 6 pad, Vellum, Cardstock White, Black, Ochre
Stamps - Heart Sing Joline by My Favorite Things
Ink - Versafine Black, Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Versamark, JudiKins Detail Black embossing powder, heat gun
Tools - Classic Circle Nestibilites, My Favorite Things Die-namics Music Notes
Other - Pearls by Queen & Co.

I have a card made and ready for you for tomorrow ... see you then!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow!

Hello!  I have a new creation for you today with a new die from My Favorite Things I recently got.  We all go through phases as stampers.  And it seems that this year, I like the outdoors ... animals, clouds, sun, grass, hot air balloons, trees, and the list goes on.  And now I have a rainbow die to add!  How fun is that?  I dug around in some old boxes and found a partial Die Cuts with a View pad of glittered cardstock that I decided would be perfect!  Let me show you my card.  And then I will give you the details!  Enjoy!

I wanted to let you know about the rainbow die.  When you run it thru you paper, you get 7 sizes of one color, so I created a bunch of different rainbows to be used for other cards.  I could have gotten 7 rainbows out of one die if I would have kept the colors in the order of the first one I did, but instead I changed up the colors so I ended up with less.  To get solid adhesive on the backside, I thought the best idea was to use the Mosaic tape from JudiKins.  It was perfect.  I love this tape.  It is expensive but strong!  But, if you don't have this tape, I saw a tutorial on how they got adhesive on the backside.  You can see it here.  (Scroll down to get to her tutorial)  All she did was put the pieces that you die cutted out back into the die with the pretty side down and in the order you want and add dots covering all the strips.  Even though, I love the ease of the mosaic tape, I might have to try their way too!  The sentiments I used on my card is from a set I bought a while back from Close to My Heart.  The set had a rainbow that I could never get to look right, so when I got the MFT die, I had to dig out this set for the sentiment.  I know My Favorite Things has a whole sentiment stamp set that has great sentiments for suns and rainbows.  It is on my wish list.  What do you think about my card ... do you like it?

Recipe:

Paper - Glitter Cardstock Matstack 4.5 x 6 by Die Cuts with a View, Cloud Paper from Summer Days 6 x 6 pad from Echo Park, Stripes and Pattern from Echo Park Summertime Line, Cardstock White, Rose
Stamps - Sentiments by Close to My Heart
Ink - Versafine Black
Tools - Rainbow Die and Scalloped Ribbon Border Die (love this!) from My Favorite Things, Cloud Die from Papertrey Inc., Oval Nestibilities
Other - Pearls by Queen & Co.

Hope to be back in a day or two.  Happy Stamping!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  I am back today with another sketch share between my friend Debbie and I.  We must have been on the same wave link because we used very similar sentiments but, of course, as always, each using our own color scheme and elements allow for the cards to look so different.  And that is why we enjoy this share and I want to show you the results every week!  Here is my card, Debbie's card, and the sketch we followed.  Enjoy!

What do you think?  This sketch looks so different when it's completed.  It is definitely one I will make again!

The Blossoms of Life!

Hello!  Welcome to my second post for the day!  If you missed the last one, be sure to scroll down to see it, as I shared my upcoming class cards with you.  Today's card is a for Forgotten Stamp Friday!  I have vowed to every Friday, make a card with a forgotten stamp.  And my rules to myself are that the stamps have to be either have been in my collection for two years without being stamped or at least 6 months old for a stamp that hasn't been inked yet.  Today's stamp falls in the older than two year category and frankly the stamp is so clean, I am not sure it was inked before today!  I am also using some sketches from Mojo Monday from 2009 and so today I used #68.  I even used an older technique and did some coloring directly on the stamp with Tombow markers, spritzed with a little water, and stamped onto watercolor paper.  Here is my card.  Enjoy!

What a great sketch,.  So simple. yet it has that "wow" to it!  I love it!  How about you?

Recipe:

Paper - My Minds Eye Lime Twist  Happy Go Lucky 6 x 6 pad, Cardstock Hot Pink, Watercolor Paper
Stamps - Flowers from Penny Black (stamp is wood-mounted called day-dreams 3947K-I tried to find it on their website to link it for you - doesn't seem to be there - I guess it is discontinued?  Sentiment is Hero Arts
Ink - Versafine Black, Tombow Markers
Tools - Oval and Circle Nestibilities
Other - Rhinestones by Queen & Co., Twine by My Minds Eye from Lime Twist line

In my opinion, I like the twine from The Twinery much better than this twine.  The My Minds Eye twine is much softer which makes it unravel more, making it harder to tie bows and work with.  But, it is pretty and some of the colors were different, like the pink I used on today's card.

I will be back tomorrow with the Saturday Sketch Share.  See you then!

Happy Stamping!

July Class Share!

Hello!  Today is another two post day!  I finished my class samples and sent the pics and the info off to The Crafty Scrapper early yesterday.  So, my idea was to do a post here for my cards sometime yesterday.  But, I never got to it so now I have this post about my class cards and another for forgotten stamp Friday.  So, be sure to look for that one!  This will be my 4th month to teach.  The first month, the cards were basic A-2 cards.  But, ever since then, I have been on this kick to teach all kinds of cards and this month will be no exception!  This time around, we are doing a Sliding Pop-Up Card, a Flap Card, and a Shaped Easel Card!  I do have pics of the cards to show you.  But, I won't be adding details and instructions until after the class has been taught.  Here they are!  Enjoy!

Texas Forever!

Hello!  This is my second post of the day.  So, if you are just popping in, be sure to scroll down to see my patriotic card I made in the previous post.  I was thinking that I needed to get a Texas Tues-Step card made since it is the first Tuesday of the month.  But, I went to the other blogs of the team members, and it seems that our Texas Tues-Step team has just gone away.  Of course, Mark will always show you plenty of great Texas cards because he is the stamp designer and maker of most all those great Texas stamps we own and use!   Speaking of Mark, I have an announcement about something he is doing in August that I will tell you about later in this post.  But, first let me show you my card.  Last month, I used Mark's new Texas hot air balloon stamp.  And, I am using it again!  I have seen some great ideas out in blog land with hot air balloons.  Of course, their balloons aren't TEXAS balloons, which is why I like mine better!  But, I can still case their ideas!  Here is my card.  Enjoy!

I love all these balloons in the clouds.  And I thought the sentiment is just perfect with the scene.  What do you think?

Recipe:

Paper - Cloud paper by Echo Park, Cardstock Blue, White, Red
Stamps - Deadbeat Designs
Ink - Versafine Black, Prismacolor Pencils
Tools - Clouds by Papertrey Inc., Open Scallop Border by My Favorite Things, Circle and Scalloped Circle Nestibilities
Other - Rhinestones, Twine by The Twinery

Now, for my announcement ... did you hear Mark with Deadbeat Designs is coming to the metroplex to teach a class?  He is joint teaching with my friend Lynn Lloyd which my Texas friends know from when she opened and owned Stamp Salado down in Salado.  Lynn is an awesome teacher.  Mark has a great sense of humor.  So, between the two, what a great, fun class it will be!  A night I don't won't to miss, which is why I am already signed up!  Details as I know it:
Where:  Googly Eyes Crafts in Irving, TX  972-257-2597
When:  Wed., August 17th 6:30 p.m.
Cost:  $34 includes a free Deadbeat Designs stamp (new design)
The only part I don't know is what they are teaching!  Yes, I did sign up without knowing what we will be making.  And that is because I know it will be so fun, it won't matter!

My plan today is to get my samples made for my July's class at The Crafty Scrapper later this month.  Hope to be back for something new here in a day or two!

Happy Stamping!

Your Service and Sacrifice!

Happy July 4th + 1 day!  All last week, I had plans to make a July 4th card from the 6 x 6 pad of patriotic papers from Bo Bunny that I recently got. I put it off thinking I would get to it sometime during the weekend.  Well, this weekend ended up being very busy, as Gary's son and granddaughter unexpectedly came down to spend the holiday weekend with us.  So, I didn't get to my room until last night after they went home.  So, I changed my card a little and made it one that could be a thank you note for our military.  I wish I would have made it earlier, as I could have given it to my Godson as he was home this week, on leave from the Marines.  But, I know several who make cards to send to the troops, so someone can add my card to their box.  Here is my card. Enjoy!

What makes this card, is definitely the papers!  That image within the frame was on one of the pages in the top left corner.  I just thought it was so cool that I wanted to create a frame to showcase it!  Very simple card, but I like it!

Recipe:

Paper - Bo Bunny Liberty Collection 6 x 6 pad, Cardstock Dark Blue, Red, White
Stamps - Stampin' Up
Ink - Versafine Majestic Blue
Tools - Labels 1 Small (2 sizes), Ovals and Circles Nestibilities, Sizzix Star Die, Elizabeth Crafts Tape and Ritz Glitter
Other - Rhinestones

I actually got another card done because I was thinking today would be Texas Tues-Step day.  It seems the Texas Tues-Step team has basically just gone away.  I don't think anyone participates anymore.  But, my card is done so I am  showing it but in a separate post!  Working on it next. ...

Happy Stamping!

Saturday's Sketch Share!

Hello!  Happy July 4th weekend!  Both cards today are a little on the patriotic side.  How fun is that?  As always, I have my card, Debbie's card and the sketch that we both used, to show you today.  Let's do it!  Enjoy!

My Card
Debbie's Card

The Sketch

I do want to comment on my card.  You could say I cheated a little here.  Early this week, I was trying to put away all the scraps and pieces from the class I had just taught last Saturday.  Well, this stamp of the girl and the star glittered border was in there, and the papers, so I figure I would use this sketch along with the leftovers from the class to make my card.  I did change it up and added the balloons by Verve for her to hold.  I know it isn't the the true red, white, and blue colors but it does get the point across!

Have a great weekend ... wising you a very safe and Happy 4th of July!

Happy Stamping!

Forgotten Stamp Friday!

Hello!  As I mentioned yesterday, I saw this great idea on one of the blogs I follow. Here is the link.   The idea is to every Friday, stamp with a stamp that has not been inked in a while.  I think on Jessie's blog her rules are that it hasn't been inked in at least six months, but for me I think I want the rules to be either never inked, which would mean acquired at any time, or has to be at least two years old, which would put the "acquiring" part back when I owned my store!  This is a great idea for me because I have lots and lots of stamps that are either old favorites from when I had my store, or there are a bunch of stamps that I ordered in the last months of owning the store that have never been used!  She also apparently has an linky widget on her Friday posts where others (like me) can link their creations for this theme to her blog.  However, I am not seeing that she has a post for it today, but, I will look into it.  Either way, it won't keep me from doing some forgotten Friday posts and to get started, I have one for you today!  So, let's get to it!  Here is my card using an old favorite stamp from Outlines that hasn't been inked in two years!  Enjoy!

I made tons of cards with these Outlines stamps and even taught a couple of classes to show how you stamp them, cut out different layers of the same stamp in different colors of paper to give different looks.  Here is a card I found in my stash from when I had my store using the same stamp.

One of the ways that my cardmaking is different now, is how I use so many scrapbook papers to create my cards, so that is what I did with my forgotten stamp today.  A side item I sold along with these stamps, was packages of swarovski crystals to add the perfect bling to the cards.  Since, I still own some of these little crystals, I added them to my card today.  Here is a close-up view.

Which look do you like better?  I am not sure.  I kinda like the original look of color cardstock but I think the card needs a bit of updating.  I like the layout I used today.  It is actually a sketch from Mojo Monday from Jan. 2009.  (Mojo69)  In Jan. of 2009, I was just making my announcement that I would be closing my store on June 30, 2009.  How ironic, since yesterday was two years to the date of closing.  Wow!  I don't miss my store, but I do often miss the people!  Of course, I love having the time to stamp and create and I love sharing it all with you!
